"...So after a few days of travel, we finally arrived here in Encanto." Valentina finished her story, her heart beating rapidly in her chest as she recalled everything that had happened for the past few years. She didn't know exactly why she felt like she needed to tell him, but she did.

Camilo was silent, his eyes wide with disbelief. He opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. His mind was still processing everything the girl opened up to him. His hand made its way to his curly hair as he struggled to find the words to say.

Valentina watched as the shapeshifter shifted on his seat a few times, glancing up and making quick eye contact with her before looking away from time to time.

The girl sighed, worried that the information that she let out might have been too overwhelming to him. I mean who wouldn't? It's not everyday you're told that a friend of yours lost half her family AND given a gift all in one night.

"Camilo.." Valentina said, her voice almost in a whisper as she reached out and grabbed the boy's hand, gently squeezing it. Camilo looked up, his eyes landing on the concerned expression the girl had on her face.

"I know this may be a lot to take in, but just so you'll know, I'm completely fine." Valentina's voice slightly cracked, her eyes slightly glossy.

Camilo suddenly stood up, his hand not letting go of Valentina's as he made his way towards the seat across from him. Before she could even question his actions, Valentina was suddenly engulfed in a tight hug. The shapeshifter's head on the crook of her neck as his arms wrapped around the girl's waist.

Camilo did not know what came over him, or how he suddenly had the confidence to make such a bold move. All he knew at that moment was that he wanted to comfort her.

He needed to comfort her.

One could only imagine what the girl in his arms has been through. Having to wake up everyday just to realize the people she loved weren't with her anymore. To continue her life knowing everything had changed, and that she had to move on.

She didn't move on though. She couldn't. She tried, but the memories of her witnessing the death of her mother, father and brother bore into her thoughts everyday. She couldn't accept it, she hasn't forgotten the look Gabriel had when he got stabbed from the back, her father struggling to keep the man from chasing after his children, and her mother's scream.

It haunted her up to this day. She could only wish for them to come back to her, alive and well. Wishing that she should've done something to prevent them from dying. But unfortunately, life isn't like that and it's already far too late. It would probably take another miracle for that to happen.

Valentina and Camilo kept quiet as they continued to embrace. Silent tears finally rolled down Valentina's face, damping Camilo's beloved ruana, in which he didn't mind.
