Part 2: Leaving

(Rapunzel, Eugene, Lance, Quirin, Angry, and Catalina all stand by Varian)

Varian: Well, I guess that means we're off. (He pets the stuffed raccoon-Ruddiger-on his shoulder)

Rapunzel: We're going to miss you.

Eugene: Yeah. I'm going to really miss parts of the castle randomly exploding.

Varian: (chuckles) I'll miss you guys too.

Rapunzel: (hands him a book) Here, you should take this.

Varian: (accepts it and turns the pages) An empty book?

Rapunzel: When I went on my adventure, I documented my travels in my own journal that my mom gave me. Seeing that your mom seemed to keep one too, I thought you would want to do the same.

Varian: (smiling) Thanks, Rapunzel. (Hugs her)

Lance: (sniffing loudly) Oh, I promised myself I wouldn't cry! (Sobbing)

(Catalina pats his shoulder while Angry rolls her eyes and scoffs)

Varian: Well, goodbye everyone.

Eugene: Bye, kid.

Rapunzel and the others: Bye!

Quirin: Bye, son.

Varian: I'll see you all soon. I'll write. (Walks to the middle of stage as the others exit then speaks to Ruddiger). Well, Ruddiger, just you and me. Just like old times. Or... well... not really. So this is what it's like over the wall of Corona? Not as exciting as I have always envisioned it...

(People begin to gather around behind him. Varian walks closer)

Varian: Oh! We're in Bayangor now. I wonder what's going on in the town square...

Yong: Ladies and gents! I present to you my newest invention! Fireworks!

Lady: Oh, no...

Man 1: Not you again!

Man 2: I swear if this explodes-

Yong: It's supposed to explode! It makes a beautiful explosion in the sky out of harm's way. Let me show you. (Lights the prompt)

Lady: Run for your lives!

(The people run of stage and Yong hides under a table as the prompt begins to let off smoke and make loud popping sounds)

Varian: This isn't going well- (runs forward and stomps out the fire)

Yong: (gets out from under table) Wow! That was awesome.

Varian: It was nothing. Really. I literally didn't do anything.

Yong: Who are you?

Varian: I'm Varian of Old Corona-

Yong: Oh, my gosh! Like the Varian? Corona's Royal Alchemist Varian?

Varian: Yes-

Yong: Oh, my gosh! I'm your biggest fan!

Varian: (to Ruddiger) Was this what it was like for Eugene? Honestly, it kind of feels nice...

Yong: (looks at his invention) Man! I really thought I had it this time. I thought they'd be impressed, but I guess it will never be enough...

Varian: You know, when I was your age, people acted the same way around me.

Yong: Wait? Really? (He soffs) Yeah, right. Like someone would throw shade at the Great Varian of Old Corona.

Varian: Great is laying it on a little thick, but I'm serious.

Yong: Wait, you are?

Varian: (nods and music starts)

Once when I was ten
I decided to make a machine
It was run by a guinea pig
And supposed to make ice cream
But the wheel got stuck
And my guinea pig just ran away
Or so I thought, but he just hid
And he bit Mrs. Franpae!

Yong: Wait, really?

Varian: Yep. That was just a little accident.

So you see, you're much like me
We're much more alike than we may seem
They feared me too just like do to you
But one day they'll see what you can do

Yong: I think I get what you're saying.

Varian: So when the fire lights
Don't snuff it out, just let it burn
And your future will be more bright
Don't ever think to quit
So when troubles come
You'll make mistakes, but keep pushing
And they'll see how great you've become
Just keep fighting for it

So you see, you're much like me

Yong: When the road gets tough

Varian: Keep pushing through

Yong: And when I think I've had enough

Varian: But you can't give up

Yong: I'll make mistakes, but keep pushing

Varian: Because you'll make it through

Both: We'll never try to quit!

So you see, you're much like me
We're much more alike than we may seem

Varian: They feared me too just like do to you

Both: But one day they'll see what we can do
What we can do!

*Music ends*

Yong: Are you staying in town? I'm sure my parents won't mind if you came!

Varian: No, I couldn't intrude-

Yong: Don't be ridiculous! Mom always loves company. Besides, we don't have a restaurant or an inn so we usually have strangers over often.

Varian: Well... if you insist.

Yong: (fist pumps the air) Yes! Let's go! (Grabs Varian's arm and drags him off stage.

Varian: (stumbles after) Woah!
