"What the hell?" Thomas whispered following behind the boy who showed up in his room telling him to follow him in the air-ducts.
"Hurry, this way. Come on." He tells Thomas.
"Hey, wait a second. What the hell are we doing?" Thomas finally speaks up.
"Come on, we're gonna miss it." The boy tells him.
"What the hell am I doing?" Thomas asks himself.
As they get to a bigger section they look down at what the boy is showing Thomas. They watch them roll these hospital beds with bodies covered up. "What the hell was that?" Thomas was first to speak.
"They bring in new ones every night like clockwork." The boy tells him.
"You know what they do with them?" Thomas asks him.
"I don't know. This is as far as I've ever gotten. The vents don't even go into that section. But once they go through that door, they don't come back out. I don't think anybody ever really leaves this place." The boy tells him then says they have to go.
"Why did you show me this?" Thomas asks.
"Because maybe the others will listen to you. There's something weird going on here. And I know you think so too." He tells Thomas.
"Wait. What's your name?" He stopped the boy.
"Aris." He crawls away.
The next day back in the cafeteria Janson calls out names again and Thomas watches closely. "I wanna know what's through that door." He says aloud.
"Now, we've been over this. You said they were covered up, so you don't know what you saw. It could've been anything under there." Newt tells him.
"I know exactly what I saw. They were bodies." Thomas tells him. "Aris said they bring in a new batch every night." He adds.
"Who the hell is Aris?" Minho asks, so Thomas points over at him.
"Well, I'm sold." Minho says not meaning it.
"Okay, until we know anything for certain we should just keep our heads down and try not to draw any attention to ourselves alright." Newt says, but Thomas gets up.
"What is he doing?" Newt asks.
"I think he's drawing attention to himself." Fry tells him as they continue to watch Thomas try to go through the doors.
"Hang on. You weren't called." The man stops him.
"I know. I'm just gonna be a second." Thomas tries to walk past them again.
"This is a restricted area, kid." He tells Thomas again.
"I just wanna see my friend. Can you let me through?" Thomas asks him.
"Get your ass back in that chair. You don't need to see your girlfriend."
Thomas turns to walk away but tries to run through, making the boys go hold him back. "Why won't you let me see her!" Thomas yells as Janson comes in.
"What's happening here? Thomas? I thought we could trust each other. You know we're all on the same team here." Janson grabs Thomas's shoulder.
"Are we?" He asks him.
"Get them to their bunks" Janson says and they get shoved into their room.
"What the hell was that about?" Minho asks Thomas.
"You didn't really think they were just gonna let you through?" Newt adds.
"Nah, of course I didn't. I'm gonna find out what's on the other side of that door." Thomas shows them the keycard. "Newt, they're hiding something. Okay? These people are not who they say they are." Thomas tells them.
