Mario and his brother Luigi are just taking a break from the normal routine when all of a sudden, a new threat appears! Luigi has been captured and Mario now has to stop these foes from summoning something evil...

Mario, Mr.L, Luigi, and Tippi all flew with confidence, Halcandra as their destination. The volcanic planet was now within their sight, becoming larger and larger with every passing minute they flew on.
"Mario, I insist, I remembered something urgent that needs to be addressed," Tippi told him.
"I said that we'll help you find your friend later! But for now, we need to stop the Count before he claims Galaxia!" Mario exclaimed.
"Mario, the Count is the topic of my problem!" Tippi insisted.
Mario and Tippi's conversation was interrupted by Mr.L slamming his and Luigi's warp star into them.
"Will you two be quiet?! We don't want to get spotted!" Mr.L spat.
"Hey, that wasn't nice!" Luigi exclaimed.
"Gee, you don't say?" Mr.L sarcastically retorted, "But seriously, be quiet! I don't want to run into-"
Mr.L was cut off by Luigi grabbing him and tugging the both of them down. Mr.L was about to protest but a projectile speeding over their heads kept his mouth shut.
"Who's shooting at us?!" Mario exclaimed.
The four of them looked ahead to see none other than Nastasia in front of them. In one of her hands was a beam wand, which must have been what she shot at them with. Her expression remained blank as she floated on a warp star, her grip firm on her wand.
"Yeah, I'm gonna need you all to stop there, 'K? Count's orders." Nastasia stated.

"She has a beam ability equipped, which is what she fired at you all," Tippi said.
"HEY! Why are you firing at me?! I'm on your team!!!" Mr.L exclaimed.
Nastasia gave a harrumph and brought her weapon back to her side.
"You're associating with them, which is enough to pencil you in as a part of the enemy, yeah," Nastasia replied.
Mr.L scowled in response.
"Says the person helping the Count!!! Where was HE when everyone else DIED from THESE dipsticks?!" Mr.L shouted.
"Hey!" Mario protested with a huff.
Nastasia frowned deeper in response.
"Count's orders, I need to take you all to him. Well, I need to take the warrior in green, the rest of you are optional, yeah." Nastasia said, "So, surrender yourselves now before I need to pencil you in for an annihilation, 'K?"
Mr.L gawked in response as both Mario and Luigi tensed up.
"What the heck!? You're just going to follow his orders blindly?!" Mr.L shouted, "He's gonna kill all of us!!!"
Nastasia scowled in response as Mr.L waved them ahead.
"C'mon, we can just zoom past her. No need to waste our time any longer." Mr.L stated.
"YOU GO NOWHERE! THE COUNT FORBIDS IT!!!" Nastasia exclaimed.
Nastasia fired another blast of energy at them and managed to blast Luigi and Mr.L. The two warriors in green let out shouts of surprise as their warp star fell apart, shrinking down in size as it did. Nastasia fired at the two of them again and they narrowly dodged, flailing their arms to try and propel themselves forward.
"Hey!!! I thought you said you needed me alive!" Mr.L yelled.
"The Count only needs the one with the Chaos Charm! So surrender!" Nastasia shouted.
Mr.L laughed and placed his hands on his hips with a smirk, though looking rather ridiculous just floating in space.
"Jokes on you, I gave it to Dimentio!" Mr.L retorted.
"WHAT?!" Nastasia screamed.
"U-uh, you might want to dodge!" Luigi exclaimed.
"Huh?" Mr.L questioned.
Luigi dove and pushed Mr.L out of the way just as Nastasia sent a flurry of attacks their way. Tippi hummed to herself as she watched, floating beside Mario.
"I gotta help them!" Mario exclaimed.
"Wait, I know exactly how to beat her!" Tippi replied, "Mr.L! Luigi! Hurry over here and grab Mario's hand!"
"WHAT?! No! I can take Ms.BlueAndPink any day!" Mr.L retorted, "I don't need-"
Before he could finish his thought, Luigi grabbed ahold of him and quickly flew over to Mario dodging projectiles in the process.
"Now what?!" Luigi asked.
"Grab Mario's hands and I'll do the rest." Tippi confidently replied.
Luigi shrugged and grabbed ahold of his brother without hesitation. With a groan of reluctance, Mr.L did the same.
"What's your plan, now?" Mario questioned.
"Hold tight and hang on!" Tippi chirped, "Mario, if I could borrow your warp star!"
Mario nodded in response and hopped off, now clinging to the back as they all avoided long-range attacks from Nastasia. Tippi flew to the front of the star and then paused, seeming to freeze up.
"What's wrong now?!" Mr.L shouted.
"I... Don't have any arms right now... I could only do this if I were back to normal." Tippi sheepishly replied.
"WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY THAT FIRST?!" Mr.L yelled.
Their arguing was cut short by Nastasia flying up and knocking them all back. The four of them tumbled away, Mario's warp star shrinking and zipping back into his cap. Nastasia smirked as she readied another attack, charging up her beam wand.
"Heh, you were much easier to beat than the others made it out to be." Nastasia chuckled, "I'll be sure to tell the Count about your annihilation, 'K?"
Tippi grunted in response and shook her head.
"No! I must stop Blumiere!" Tippi cried.
Nastasia went wide-eyed and froze, her weapon still charging.
"H-how did you know that name?! No one else knows his name except me!" Nastasia stammered in disbelief.
Tippi charged forward and towards Nastasia, much to everyone's shock.
"Tippi! No!" Mario cried.
Tippi slammed against the wand in Nastasia's hand and everyone could hear a crack. All at once, the orb on the wand shattered and detonated a massive explosion. Everyone had to cover their ears and squint their eyes shut as the force knocked them all backward, and towards Halcandra.

Mario groaned as his eyes slowly started to open. His ears rang and his vision was blurred, but both were starting to come into focus. Both Mr.L and Luigi were in the same boat, groaning as they attempted to sit up. Eventually, after they gathered themselves, they realized that a few things were missing.
"Is everyone okay?" Mario asked.
"Ugh, no." Mr.L groaned, "But I'll live another day."
"Where's Nastasia and Tippi?" Luigi warily asked.
The three of them looked around and then frowned, not seeing either.
"They were both really close to the blast... Too close." Mr.L murmured, looking down at his feet.
Mario sighed and looked up at the sky.
"Well... May they both be in a better place..." Mario whispered.
The two warriors in green nodded and looked up with him, gazing up at the ash-cloud sky, the atmosphere as dark as their mood. They felt defeated, as if they already lost the battle by losing their teammate.
