Mario and his brother Luigi are just taking a break from the normal routine when all of a sudden, a new threat appears! Luigi has been captured and Mario now has to stop these foes from summoning something evil...

Dimentio stood there and chuckled at Mario, amused by his idiot confidence and determination to win. He laughed louder and harder as the other three stepped up beside Mario, ready to brawl.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHEHEHehehe..." Dimentio trailed off, "So be it."
Dimentio immediately sprang up into the air, completely destroying the crystal below his feet as he lept up. He crossed his arms in front of himself, creating a magical barrier shaped like a star.
Mario lept forward first, swiping his mallet at the charm around his neck. As Mario reared back, Dimentio split down the middle. The Warrior in red yelped as he tumbled to the floor, skidding face down across the platform.
"What the heck?!" Mario exclaimed.
Dimentio cackled in response as a black hole appeared between his two halves, seeming unaffected by his body being cleaved in two. Mr.L quickly ran up to Mario and grabbed him by the hand as Dimentio vanished and the black hole remained.
"Run!" Timpani shouted.
The black hole began to suck in all four of them, gravity pulling them in fast. Blumiere and Timpani flew away desperately, struggling to not get dragged into the abyss. Mr.L sprinted seemingly in place as he pulled along Mario, huffing at the sheer amount of effort.
"FASTER, FASTER, FASTER!!!" Mario yelped, dangling in the air.
"SHUT UP, SHUT UP, SHUT UP!!!" Mr.L screamed.
The black hole vanished and all of them fell to the floor face first, unable to stop the sudden change in gravity. Suddenly, a shadowy pool formed on the ground, streaking straight towards Mario.
"Mario, look out below you!" Blumiere called out.
Mario dodge rolled as Dimentio sprang up from the shadow, laughing as he did. The Warrior in red swung his hammer around and slammed it into Dimentio's shield, shattering a point on the star.
Dimentio let out a shriek and teleported into the air, just out of reach. He clapped his hands and Mario's copy ability was seemingly thrown out of him, vanishing into thin air.
"Hey!" Mario protested.
Dimentio raised his hands into the air and the vines appeared once more. Mr.L and Mario were cornered off while Blumiere and Timpani took to the air instead. The two of them flew upward until they were at the same level as Dimentio.
"Timpani!" Blumiere called out.
Blumiere held out his staff to her and she nodded in understanding. Dimentio fired an array of magic projectiles at the two of them as Timpani grabbed ahold of one end of his staff. Blumiere threw her forward and she angled her feet to kick Dimentio head-on.
Dimentio crossed his arms to block her as she collided with the shield, shattering another point on the magic barrier. He scowled and held both of his hands out in front of himself, a magic ring appearing and seeming to charge up an attack.
"Timpani, look out!" Blumiere exclaimed.
Blumiere tackled her to the ground, wrapping his wings protectively around her as Dimentio fired a beam of energy at where she was moments before. Blumiere and Timpani landed as Dimentio teleported away, reappearing just above them.
The charm on Dimentio's neck glowed as he folded in his wings, charging an attack no doubt. He flung his wings outward and four sharp cutters flew through the air. Mr.L quickly lept forward and brought up a mirror fragment, sending the cutters back at Dimentio and shattering another point on the star.
"Two left!" Mr.L said.
Instead of wincing in pain, Dimentio laughed as black tears welled up in his eyes, both good and bad eye. The ink-like tears hit the floor and sizzled as if boiling. Dimentio continued laughing as the burning tears fell, bouncing off of the ground towards the other four as if targeting them. They all scattered to avoid the acid-like tears falling down on them while Blumiere readied his staff.
The tears stopped flowing and Blumiere lept up, bringing his staff down onto Dimentio's shield, shattering another point. Dimentio slammed to the ground as Blumiere remained flying in the air, landing beside Timpani when he came down. Dimentio growled as he held his hands in front of himself, a magic circle forming as he readied another beam attack.
"Right back at ya!" Mr.L exclaimed.
Mr.L summoned a large mirror to block his small group as Dimentio fired the blast. The beam of pure energy hit the reflective surface and bounced back at him. Dimentio went wide-eyed as the blast engulfed him entirely.
Mario, Timpani, and Blumiere watched with wide eyes as they watched Dimentio seemingly disappear into the light beam. Timpani held onto Blumiere worriedly.
"Is he..?" Timpani trailed off.
The blast disappeared and Dimentio remained standing in the place he was, slightly tottering on his feet as he seemed to struggle to stay upright. The last fragment of Dimentio's shield shattered, leaving him vulnerable.
"Now's our chance!" Mario exclaimed.
Blumiere nodded and brandished his staff.
"That charm became my obsession, so now I shall shatter it!" Blumiere stated.
Blumiere lept forward and thrust his staff into the Chaos Charm. Instantly, a hairline fracture ran down its center, giving it the look of a broken heart. Dimentio took a sharp inhale of breath, his red eye slowly turning yellow again.
"B-back... BACK OFF!" Dimentio spat.
Dimentio kicked Blumiere back towards Timpani and the others and then keeled over. Timpani caught Blumiere and helped him upright.
Out from the crack on the gemstone began to ooze a dark purple liquid. It seemed to drip from the charm and then slowly form tentacle-like shapes as Dimentio wheezed. Suddenly, the ooze molded into the shapes of hands and then grabbed ahold of Dimentio.
"Dimentio!" Timpani called out.
Dimentio screamed in anguish as the dark matter tried to grab ahold of anything it could. The hands grabbed at his horns, wings, and even his eyelids. He grasped the Chaos Charm and tried prying it off, desperate as it seemed to coat him in the leaking ooze.
"G-get it off!!! Get it off!!! GET IT OFF!!!" Dimentio screeched.
Two more hands formed and grabbed ahold of the corners of his mouth. Dimentio gagged in response and then went silent as the dark matter flooded into his body, going into his mouth. He went still and his broken mask clattered to the ground, revealing his yellow eye staring blankly ahead as his mouth shut.
Black covered his body entirely as if he was being painted with a shadow. The black stayed there on him for a moment before dripping away, revealing his new look.
His wings now curved at the edges, sharp enough to spear someone. His horns were longer, extending well past the back of his head. He had both of his eyes open, though his yellow irises looked dead. The gloves on his hands were now pointed at his fingertips, claws adorning his hands. His mouth remained shut tight, him now staring at them blankly.
"Dim..?" Mr.L warily asked.
Two more arms extended from the charm and curved up towards his face. Two fingers lifted the corners of his mouth into an unnatural grin. As his mouth was forced open, it was revealed that no mouth was there any longer, and instead was a large red eye, glaring at all of them.
