Make Good

They all braced themselves for the sudden change in gravity, the vortex disappearing instantly without so much as a warning. Timpani and Blumiere both stumbled backward, both of them having to dig their heels in the ground to keep themselves from going flying. Mario and Mr.L both went rolling, dizzy when they came to a halt.

Mario shook his head and quickly shot to his feet, frantically looking around for any sign of his brother. Mr.L groaned as he rubbed his forehead, trying to focus through a headache. Blumiere helped Timpani to her feet, wincing from his own injuries kicking back in now that the adrenaline has worn off.

"Are you alright, dearest Timpani?" Blumiere asked.

Timpani nodded in response, but her saddened expression betrayed the response.

"We might've beaten Dimentio... But I just feel worse." Timpani murmured, "We said that we were going to make amends and-"

"LUIGI!!!! LUIGI?!?! LUIGIIIIIII!!!" Mario called out, interrupting Timpani.

Mario kept walking around, looking and glancing every which way, even peering under rocks. Mr.L groaned in annoyance as he rubbed his temples, Mario practically shouting in his ear.

"LUIGI!!!" Mario yelled, "LUI-"

Mr.L quickly and deftly punched Mario in the face, knocking him over.

"Will you SHUT UP?! He disappeared into the void thing with Dimentio and the charm!" Mr.L spat, "And you screaming in my ear for your brother is NOT HELPING!!!"

Mario groaned in pain but quickly shook it off, standing back up with a harrumph.

"It's not my fault he took Luigi!" Mario retorted, "If you just gave him your hand he wouldn't have done that!"

"Well, if YOU never tried to kill all of us maybe we wouldn't have even needed to fight him!" Mr.L stated.

"Oh YEAH?" Mario questioned, "If you-"

"ENOUGH!!!" Timpani shouted.

Mr.L and Mario both immediately shut up and turned to face Timpani, who shook her head with a sigh.

"We can keep playing the blame game for hours and hours." Timpani started.

"I blame him." Mr.L stated, pointing at Blumiere.

"OR, we can do something useful." Timpani interrupted, "Now which is it?"

"I want Weegie baaaaaack..." Mario sobbed, sinking down to the ground.

"That's what I thought." Timpani replied with a nod, "Mr.L?"

Mr.L looked down and crossed his arms before letting out a defeated sigh.

"Fiiiiine... Your way sounds better." Mr.L spat.

Timpani's stern expression immediately flipped to a smile, clapping her hands together.

"Yay!!! Glad that we could agree!" Timpani cheered.

"Okay... But how can we get Luigi back?" Mario asked.

"AND everyone else." Mr.L added with a hint of spite.

They all went silent in thought for a moment, looking down at the ground as if it would give the answers they wanted. Blumiere took a step forward and cleared his throat, earning everyone's attention.

"If I may add my input... We are on Halcandra." Blumiere pointed out.

"Yeah, AND? It's blazing HOT." Mr.L spat.

Mario elbowed Mr.L in the side and he shut up, allowing Blumiere to continue.

"There are plenty of artifacts hidden around Halcandra, and I can think of a few in particular that can assist us in bringing everyone back," Blumiere stated.

"Wait, why would some artifacts with that kind of power just be lying around? If they're so easy to get, why isn't something protecting them? Or why haven't they been stolen?" Mr.L questioned.

Mario shushed Mr.L again and Blumiere cleared his throat as he continued.

"These artifacts were guarded once, but they are now unprotected. Because N.M.E. only knew the locations of these items, they have been left unguarded ever since their fall. So, they're ripe for the picking." Blumiere said.

Mr.L tried to say something but was muffled by Mario's hand over his mouth.

"As for which artifact... I'm uncertain." Blumiere continued, "Once we figure out our method for bringing them all back, I can point us to the right tool for the job."

They all hummed in thought, trying to even fathom what they could do to bring them all back, if even possible. Mr.L tried to say something, but Mario's hand prevented him.

"What, Mr.L?" Timpani asked.

Mr.L smacked Mario's hand away and cleared his throat.

"What we need is a gosh darn miracle! O'Chunks, Mimi, and Nastasia all DIED, meaning that they only now exist as mirrored counterparts." Mr.L stated, "Personally, I would have asked Dimentio for help because he seems to know a LOT more than he lets on. But guess what? HE'S GONE TOO! So unless you're able to get the almighty Nova on your side, TOUGH LUCK!"

Blumiere gasped and snapped his fingers as an idea hit him.

"That's it! The almighty Galactic Nova itself!" Blumiere said.

Mr.L blinked in confusion, waiting for him to say he was joking or something, but he didn't.

"Wait, you're SERIOUS?" Mr.L questioned.

"We can summon Galactic Nova?" Timpani asked, a hint of awe in her voice.

Mario tilted his head to the side in perplexion.

"What is Galatic Nova?" Mario wondered out loud.

"Nova is a large, mechanical comet made in the shape of a pocket watch. Nova has the ability to grant one wish upon being summoned, but that can only happen when the fountains of the planets surrounding Popstar are harnessed." Blumiere explained, "Lucky for us, those fountains were activated long ago and all we have to do is intercept its course to make a wish."

Mr.L arched an eyebrow in suspicion.

"So, we just figure out where the comet is heading, intercept it, and we get to make wishes?" Mr.L asked.

"No, only one of us will be able to wish once." Blumiere stated, "One wish, one outcome, one item, no more and no less than one."

Mr.L nodded in response, not disliking the plan they were forming.

"But where is Nova going to be? If it's a comet, wouldn't we only be able to get to it at night anyway?" Mario questioned.

Blumiere nodded in response.

"Correct. But don't worry, I can quickly calculate where the mechanical comet will appear and we can fly there and arrive by nightfall, I'm sure." Blumiere reassured.

"Show off." Mr.L scoffed.

Mario quickly placed his hand over Mr.L's mouth again as Blumiere reached into his hat. Blumiere pulled out his own warp star from his cap, now shinning a vibrant yellow. He peered up at the dark ash-filled sky and peered past the clouds, straining to make out outer space above them as he used his star as sort of a compass.

"Actually, it appears that Galactic Nova should cross paths with the neighboring planet tonight!" Blumiere said, "If we take off at sunset, we can reach the clockwork comet before it passes."

Mr.L hummed in response, his frown showing off his obvious distrust of Blumiere still.

"Don't worry, I promise to make good on what I told you." Blumiere said, "I will help bring everyone back, it's the least I can do."

Timpani walked up to Blumiere and gave him a hug as Mr.L sighed, Mario removing his hand from his mouth.

"So, how long do we have to wait to take off?" Mario asked.

"Approximately..." Blumiere trailed off and looked up at the sky, "One hour."
