The whole team and I are all at Applebees after the tournament. We toast with our water and cheer about our win. I'm still not happy with how we won, but I'm having a good time.
Aisha livestreams our celebration to her instagram, "You might be wondering what a team does after they win the championship, the answer? Victory nachos!" I tap my glass to Hawks as he wraps an arm around me, happy that everyone is in a good mood. Except for Miguel, I'm not sure where he went.
Aisha continues on her instagram, "It was supposed to be a round of drink, but the waitress was not feeling Hawk's fake ID."
Hawk looks up worried, "Hey, don't talk about that. My parents follow you." Whoops. I share a smile with Demetri at how worried Hawk looks.
"Sorry Mr. and Mrs. Moskowitz," Aisha says to her phone. "Anyways, until next time, no mercy bitches."
Demetri picks up a nacho and stacks a bunch of dip on it. He holds it up when he's done, "I gotta say, it's nice to be at a victory party."
Hawk snatches the chip out of his hand, "Yeah, except you had nothing to do with the victory."
I giggle, "He was moral support."
"Then I consider it a belated party for the coding competition we won at computer camp," Demetri continues. "Remember?" He starts singing, "Demetri and Eli, Binary Brothers." He makes a robot arm and I burst out laughing. Moon and Aisha laugh with me.
I guess Hawk doesn't find it as funny though. He turns to Demetri and whispers to him, "Hey, cool it with the nerd shit huh?"
Demetri holds up his hand a little bit as he leans back embarrassed. I make eye contact with him and mouth 'it's okay'.
Hawk looks over at me, "Let's go find Miguel." I nod and Moon gets up to let us out of the booth.
We walk over to where Miguel is sitting all by himself. "El Serpiente, there you are," Hawk says to him.
"Why are you sitting by yourself?" I ask Miguel.
He looks down at his phone, "She blocked me." Oh, harsh.
"So what happens when you get blocked? You counterpunch," Hawk says to him.
I interject, "Except, maybe don't actually hit her this time." Miguel looks at me offended. I raise my hands, "Hey, you hit me too. I'm allowed to joke about it."
"What?" Hawk turns to me. I forgot he didn't know about that.
I focus on Miguel, "Look, all we're saying is don't give up."
He sighs, "It's no use. I blew any shot I had with her."
"Just give her some time to think about it," I tell him. "She'll come around. She's just processing everything."
"Did she tell you that?" Miguel asks me.
I raise my eyebrows at him, "I can't tell you what we say during our girl talks. Those are private conversations."
"And even if she doesn't come around," Hawk starts. "You're the champ now, you can have any girl you want. You're like Drake." He laughs, "Enjoy it." Then he walks back to Demetri and Moon.
Miguel looks down, "I'm not sure I want to be Drake."
I laugh a bit, "You're not." Then I get serious, "Girls like their space. Just leave it alone for a little bit and let her come to you. I'm sure she will."
"Okay," he nods. Then he tilts his head towards our table, "How's everything with you and Hawk?"
I smile, "He's amazing, I couldn't ask for better." I look over at our table to see that Moon has her hand on his arm. Miguel whistles as he sees the same thing. I've never walked so fast in my life, all of a sudden I'm standing right next to them. "Hey Moon, let me in?"
