From the outside, your house appeared to be a small circular hut, nothing remarkable.
It was situated just away from the capital.
On the inside, it was a square 2-roomed house, with mahogany floors covered in a comfortable red carpet, a fireplace blazing constantly with green fire. A plush chaise longue set in front of the fireplace.
You took off your mask and hooded cloak, hanging it on the coat stand by the door.
You flicked on the record player, your favourite tune beginning to play, Mellohi.
Humming, you grabbed a book from the large bookshelf. 'The Space Between' the cover stated. It was worn, the dyed green leather cover covered in marks, the pages yellowed with age.
You strode into your room, the tune following you through. Flopping onto your four-poster bed, you flicked through the book to the folded page.
At the top, it stated 'Inquiry- What Lies Within?'. You weren't trying anything, not again. The damage caused was devastating, and you would no longer have anything to do with it.
After a while, you drifted off, the warmth from the fire lulling you to the dreamscape.
You had forgotten to eat again, not that it would affect you. You didn't need sleep either, but you still slept because you enjoyed dreaming. When you weren't met with nightmares, that is.
<--------------------------->
You awoke to the sound of birds, and light pouring through your window. Grumbling, you tugged yourself to a sitting position.
"Another day." you sighed.
You tugged irritably at your bandaged hands. You weren't injured, it just hid your countless scars. You could barely recall where they were all from. Various escapades in search of blood, or treasure, or who knows what else?
You rifled through the chest of drawers that stood by the door. Picking out a different mask. You would avoid as much attention as possible.
Putting on your deep green cloak, you left the hut/luxury cabin.
Still humming your favourite tune, you made your way into Bonesbrugh, checking your pockets to see if you could locate any stray snails.
Once in the market, you pulled your hood further over your masked face.
You trundled over to one of the stalls, scanning through its wares. There was a variety of Mi- no. You meant human. Human stuff.
A woman with pale skin and grey hair stood behind the table, grinning widely.
You fiddled with one of the items, it seemed to be a very flimsy book, but rather than words it was written in pictures.
"That's a comic! They're super cool- and that's an especially awesome issue!!" a purple-haired girl stood by you. Her ears were rounded, like yours. But she wasn't like you, you realised, she was just a human.
"A comic. Interesting- how much?" you shrugged. Why not give it a go?
The girl looked to the woman, then back to you.
"Free, but don't tell Eda over there." she giggled.
You took it gratefully, slipping it into your pocket (Which was oddly large).
After nodding in thanks, you moved on.
Despite receiving a few unwanted looks, you got through the market unidentified.
Slipping down an alley, you leant against a wall, opening the comic.
You looked through it in amusement, humans could be amazing.
As you turned another page, your body tensed- you were being watched.
"Don't bother hiding, mate, I know you're there." you sighed.
"What? How?" a voice replied. You recognised it immediately.
"Mr. Guard, and why would you be spying on such a lowly being as me?" you laughed.
The Golden Guard stepped out from behind a pile of rubbish. He brandished his staff in front of him.
"Not going to use that one me, are you?" you asked. You knew it wouldn't matter if he did.
"Well I- no. Only if I have to." he replied.
"Since you're here, I do have a proposition- care to hear it?" you said, pushing yourself off the wall.
