I'll Go On

Remus knew of the love you and Severus shared, almost everyone knew. He also knew the love Lily and Severus shared but... Lily had changed when she was gone and Remus secretly knew that you and Severus were meant to be.

"W-who's back?" Severus furrowed his brows, Lily came to stand next to him.

Remus scoffed as it was obvious, "Y/n... Y/n Black is back!"

Severus gripped the staircase rail tight, "wh- how? That's n-not possible!"

Remus pulled out a letter from his back pocket, "Lily is quite the example."

Remus gave the letter to Severus to read.

Lily asked, looking between the two men, "Oh, isn't that an old friend yours?"

Remus replied, "Yes, she died during the war. She saved your husband here as well."

They both watched while Severus read the letter.

Dear Remus,

I hope we both survive this but if we don't I hope this letter finds someone and quick. My wife is a stubborn woman, as you may know. I've begged her not to join this battle but she insisted that I not go it alone.

Y/d/n was sent off to the muggle world with her grandmother. I hope I get to see her beautiful face again.

If something were to happen to me I'm sure Y/n would keep fighting. Not only for the students and myself but for him... Severus. That woman will always love him. That being said, she'd risk her life for him.

If my darling dies during the battle and I don't make it you MUST retrieve her wedding ring from our quarters as soon as possible. No matter how I feel about Severus, he has shown me that it is possible to protect someone from death. I've charmed her favorite necklace. Put it around her neck and wait, it should work in a matter of minutes. The longer you wait the longer it'll take to work. Please get to her as quickly as possible. After five days the charm will no longer work.

I hope you find this Mooney... I hope you can save the woman I love. I hope I'm still around to throw this letter away.

Severus looked to Remus for reassurance.

Remus nodded, "I found the letter a day after the end of the battle. I ran to Pomfry with Y/n's necklace in hand. It took about a day and a half, we weren't sure if it would work but this morning s-she woke up!"

"H-how is she? Is she okay?" Severus stuttered out.

Remus cleared his throat and shifted his feet back and forth, "She's sad, she's asking for little Y/d/n... a-and you. She wants to make sure you're really, truly alive."

Severus moved faster than lightning, putting on his coat and robes. Lily was a little shocked by Severus. He had never shown this much concern or interest for anyone at Hogwarts.

"Darling, do you still want me to join you?" Lily asked, reaching for her coat.

"Do whatever you please but I must be going now." He said, paying her no mind.

She was confused, Severus never acted like this. She was always Sev's first priority. "O-okay."

They all apparated to Hogwarts, Lily was shocked at the sight. This was not the school she once knew and loved.
