I'll Go On

You made tea for the two of you and went back to grading your essays as Severus calmed down. You were both content and quiet, enjoying the silent company. It felt like old times, it made your heart happy and you unconsciously smiled.

Sever couldn't look away from your smile, he had to look into your mind.

Godric, how I've missed this...missed him. What if we were to have a second chance? W-what if we were to be together for the rest of our lives?

"Mummy!" Your little girl's voice wailed out.

You stood up quickly and walked into her room. Severus could hear you soothing her.

"Oh goodness, what happened my darling? Is this house filled with nervous people? Awe, breathe my little girl."

"Dada?" Your little girl sniffled.

You cleared your throat, "I'm sorry sweetheart, daddy's not here."

She wriggled out of your arms and wobbled out to Severus.

"D-Dada?" She sniffled again.

You watched as y/d/n reached out for Severus. He put her on his lap and frowned.

"No, little one I'm just Severus."

A tear fell down her cheek as if she understood what he was saying. Severus wiped her eyes and smiled at you.

"She is a beautiful child, Y/n."

You returned the smile and joined them on the sofa, "Thank you, she's still getting used to it just being her and I."

He nodded as he was lost in your glossy eyes. You put Y/d/n back to bed and tried to shake off the moment. As you reentered the living room Severus was standing, ready to go home.

"Is it that time already?" You asked, not ready to be left alone.

"Yes, I must finish some grading as well." He gave you a small smile.

You walked to the front door and opened it, "I understand. If you ever need anything, Severus, I'm here for you."

"Thank you, Y/n, I am too. Have a nice evening and thank you for tonight...goodnight, " He wanted to apologize again but he stopped himself.

He walked out towards the road, ready to apparate but something ignited in you.

"Severus, wait! Please, wait!" You hurried to him.

"Is everything al-"

You interrupted him with a kiss, a sweet yet passionate kiss.

"I would very much like to give you that second chance."

"Y/n, the pleasure would be all mine... one question."

"Hmm? What is it?"

"Lucius Malfoy?"

Your eyes went wide and you gave him a sheepish smile, "just a fling... Nothing more."

He hugged you tight and chuckled, "you're a wicked woman."

Well, his second chance was all he ever needed. After a year of being back together, you moved in with one another and became engaged. Your lives were filled with smiles and love. Y/d/n adored Severus and his grumpy ways, she tended to put a smile on his face.

You eventually married and gave birth to beautiful twin boys. Severus was terrified of becoming a father but the minute he saw and held the boys he knew that he was done for. His children, your daughter included, were his everything. You, of course, were always his number one priority.

You had the family and marriage you had always wanted with Severus. Never forgetting how fortunate you were to have the love of your life back in your arms. In his eyes you weren't his always... you were his forever.
