chapter 5

"Any updates?"

The person who was questioned shook his head. The Guy picked the glass infront of him and threw it.

"Morons! Do your job properly!" He shouted angrily. The younger went inside and sighed " hyung calm down"

"How the fuck can I, Sungchan? It's been a week but there's no sign of our sister!"

Sungchan sighed and stayed quiet as his brother is fuming in anger.

"Jaehyun!" A  person called the eldest.  When Jaehyun glanced around, he spotted their father.

"Don't take your rage out again on your brother!"

"I'm sorry, dad" Jaehyun said, knowing that yelling at his younger brother was inappropriate. He patted his brother's shoulder "I'm sorry, Chan."

"I understand hyung, I know you were already stressed out, I should have properly considered your current situation as well"

Jaehyun sighed and shifted his gaze to his laptop. He sighed and palmed his face. He hasn't had enough sleep and can't recall the last time he ate; all he can think about is their sister.

"Son, you have to take a rest. You also have duties in the Mafia. Leave the Gang to Sungchan, he can take it from here"

Jaehyun shake his head and stared at the monitor. "No, I'm not going anywhere until Brie's found"

" I understand, but you have other responsibilities. We can take it from here, we will find Brie. You're part of a Mafia, Taeyong needs you."

"No, im not leaving" Jaehyun murmured.

" Brie wouldn't want you to go starving"Jaehyun gave his father a small smile and walked to get himself a food before he continue to work

Their father stared at Sungchan and sighed.

"There seems to be no lead" He exhaled and shook his head, their father seemed weak from the news, he had been waiting for it for a long time, and he hadn't slept for a night, the sight of his only daughter being dead was what he feared the most.

"Dad!" Sungchan screamed , grasping his father before he fell to the chilly floor.

Hearing his younger brother scream, Jaehyun dashed back to the office to see what was going on.

"Dad?" he yelled, but no one responded. He then noticed Sungchan on the floor, holding their father.

"Fuck! Get my dad in the hospital!" he cried aloud, and their men went out to prepare the vehicle.

Sungchan was requested to stay at the headquarters by Jaehyun, who was carrying their father on his back.

"I'm ready!" I exclaimed.

I'm getting discharged, and I'm all dressed up and ready to go. Jeno made me wore his clothes for the mean time.

I look really tiny in his hoodie and sweats.

Jeno and Jaemin are waiting for me at the door. We all got out of the hospital and Jeno drove us to their house, it only took a few minutes.

I was taken aback when I saw their property.

it's enormous; I was expecting them to live in an apartment, but gosh, they live in a mansion

Nonetheless, a part of me felt that I live in a much larger space than this.

"Brie, Close you're mouth a fly might get inside" I snapped out when Jaemin closed my mouth.

"S-Sorry." I said as I smiled and followed them inside. I was astounded to see the inside of the house; it was messy, but it was huge, with two floors and a massive living room.

"Your room is just next to mine, so knock on my door if you need anything" Jaemin uttered looking really excited to have me as his new neighbor

I didn't have any problems lugging my belongings upstairs because I didn't have anything.

When Jaemin showed me my room, I was once again taken aback. This house is vast, and the rooms are equally so.

This is your room; the room across the hall belongs to Jeno; feel free to hang out with him." Jaemin said as he walked away from me. I sighed and walked over to the bed, where I lied down and sighed once again.

My door, however, burst open, revealing Renjun.

"hello!" he exclaimed as he greeted me.

"We're going to the mall! We have to get you some clothes!" he exclaimed as he wiggled his brows at me. I laughed and told him I'd see him down the hall.

I jogged my way down, but I suddenly bumped onto Haechan, He glared at me and pushed me back and He rolled his eyes afterward.

"next time, watch where you're going, woman!" he hissed as he walked away. I heard Jeno's voice say, "Hey hey! Let's go!"

I smiled at him and ran towards him, we drove to the mall and I chose simple clothes, and Renjun payed for them, Renjun proceeded into a craft store leaving me with jeno

"Do you have any work?" I asked.

" I do, why?" he asked, a smile on his face.

"I was just intrigued by how you spend your money"

"I work for the government" he stated. We entered a café, where I ordered an Americano and he paid for it.

I was thinking to myself that I'm in a massive debt with this man, and I sighed at the prospect of being in debt, when a sign caught my sight.

I smile and excuse myself, then proceed to the counter to speak with the lady.

"hello maam! May I ask whats your order?" The woman behind the counter is cheerful and appears to be really kind.

"I'm just going to see whether you're still hiring" I said, smiling. She oh-ed and Nod

"Yes, wait, I'll call the manager so you can speak with her" the girl said as she walked away, the manager trailing behind her.

I spoke with the manager, who indicated I could start the next week and was kind enough to pay close attention on my fractured arm. "Thank you! So much"

"Don't worry, go ahead and write your details here so that we can recognise your presence next week" she said as she handed me a log book to fill out. However, I left the surname field blank.

When I return to Jeno, he gives me a puzzled expression. "what's with the smile?"

"I found a job!" I squealed in excitement but his brows furrowed "a job? Brie you are injured"

He looks like he didn't like the fact that I just made his life easier. I sighed "i know"

"you know, but you still insisted to work?"

"but jeno, Ill start next week" I pouted a little when He sounded like he didn't like the idea

"why do you even want to work?" He mumbled enough for me to hear, I let out a deep breathe "Jeno, I can't just let you all pay for everything I buy"

"But we're fine with it" he gave me a perked smile.

"but I am not, I dont want to be a burden to anyone Jeno, I want to pay for my own needs"

Jeno sighed and gave me a faint smile before patting my head.

"If that's what you really want then go ahead"

I ears perked at his words. " really?" "hmm"

"Thank you! thank you!" I smiled at him.
I am tempted to hug him but I stopped myself or else it will be awkward for the both of us

I will slowly repay you, Jeno. That's a promise.
