The Truth About Love

Everyone tells you

about the feeling of a warm heart,

a burning fire in the chest. An undying

flower.

Some say love is

fire and ice. Others say it is an intimacy so deep,

nothing can break it.

Love burns like brandy and kills

like poison.

The missing piece

 of a puzzle

you have tried so hard to complete.

The longing to continue

a journey, and see beauty on the other side.

Feeling lost when the one you love is not near.

The truth of love, is not a warm fuzzy feeling.

It is one of hurt and angst, a feeling of betrayal

so deep and invisible only you can see it.

Like a blade, surgically placed where it hurts,

but doesn't kill.

An emptiness that once was filled.

As though you are death walking.

Love takes and never gives.

Then again, maybe it is kind and good. Maybe,

Love is the calm before a storm, dark and broody, scarcely waiting to be unrestrained.

Emotions brewing, boiling, creating chemistry that is bound to unfold.

Like the stories of eons ago.
