Poem 10

Forever

You said we would have forever.

I thought we would have a lifetime,

instead, it was mere months.

You said there would be no other,

I guess that's what you tell her now.

I wish I could see things

the way you do

but I am too broken.

Shattered into a million pieces

each one blown to the ends of the earth

waiting

to be picked up.

My heart feels like sand shifted

through an hourglass

squeezed

so tightly I

can barely breathe.

Every time I see you look at her

my heart

pounds like a drum

my throat

refuses to work.

I am suffocating knowing that you are with her.

And you

You go on.

Unrealizing the damage you have done.

Like a hurricane you don't care

you forget

and I

I am left to heal

the damage alone.

And you.

You said we would have forever.
