"Schlatt, come stop by my office please", Wilbur said as he passed Schlatt, who looked up with a confused look.
As Wilbur continued on to his office, he got lost in thought. He wanted to know what was wrong with Schlatt, because there very obviously was something going on.
He had been super quiet and distant ever since he had that talk with Sally. Sometimes he seemed like he was purposely trying to avoid Wilbur.
And Wilbur had no idea why. He knew it had something to do with Sally, and he just wanted Schlatt to tell him what was wrong so he could possibly help out.
He feared that Sally had made some sort of threat against him. So he chose a day where Sally was not at the office so he could talk to Schlatt privately.
Sally had also been really touchy with him lately..
He opened the door to his office and closed the door before going to sit in his spinny chair. He spun around a few times before he heard a knock on the door.
"Come in!", Wilbur shouted, looking up at Schlatt who stood in the doorway. Schlatt came in and shut the door, going over to Wilbur.
"Sit", Wilbur demanded, and Schlatt gave him a look.
"And where am I supposed to sit, hm?", Schlatt asked, not seeing any extra chairs.
Wilbur patted his lap, which made Schlatt's face flush and he hesitantly went over and sat on Wilbur's lap, positioning himself so he was facing Wilbur.
"So, what's going on with you?", Wilbur asked, gently grabbing Schlatt's chin and pulling him closer.
"..nothing", Schlatt responded, avoiding looking at Wilbur.
"What did Sally really say to you the other week?", Wilbur asked, adding "I know it had nothing to do with work."
Schlatt sighed and looked around warily.
"Is she here today?", Schlatt asked in a low voice, and Wilbur shook his head.
Schlatt leaned closer so he was right by Wilbur's ear when he mumbled, "She threatened to kill me if I didn't get away from you."
Wilbur had a surprised look plastered on his face, before being replaced with a look of mad understanding.
That's why Schlatt had been avoiding him. And Sally had been so close. And.. it just all painfully made a lot of sense.
Wilbur sighed frustratedly and pinched the bridge of his nose, closing his eyes to clear his thoughts and think about what to do.
"So should I fire her?", Wilbur asked, and the look of fear Schlatt gave him made him immediately regret his words.
"Then she'll know I told you, and she'll find me! And she'd probably get you too..", Schlatt mumbled, trailing off at the end.
"You're right, should I call the police maybe?", Wilbur suggested. Schlatt sat there, thinking.
"Not for now, if she starts getting super close or something happens, call them immediately", Schlatt decided, hopping off of Wilbur's lap.
"Hey, you kept my lap warm!", Wilbur complained, and Schlatt smiled, turning back to Wilbur.
He came closer and Wilbur pulled him in for a quick kiss before letting him go so Schlatt could actually accomplish something for his department.
----------------------------------------------------------
Schlatt picked up a file and flipped through it, before putting it down and staring at the papers inside. He sighed.
He had a massive headache and was not in the mood to do any of this today. He decided to leave it until the next day.
Schlatt felt a hand on his shoulder and turned around. And a certain red head stood there with a malicious smile on her face.
"You told him."
It wasn't a question.
She knew.
Schlatt's eyes widened.
"W-why wouldn't I tell him, he's my boyfriend!", Schlatt spat as he backed away each time Sally took a step closer.
"Because you know what would happen to you and to him if you told. And look where we are now", she replied, a crazed look in her eyes.
"Look, I-", Schlatt was stopped mid sentence as he saw Wilbur approach Sally from behind.
Wilbur cleared his throat, giving Sally a sharp look as she turned around, her face contorted between a mixture of fear and frustration.
"Wilburrr~, so nice to see youuu-", she tried, but the look Wilbur gave her made her shut up.
"So what made you think that it was a good idea to threaten one of my workers and believe that you could get away with possible murder?", Wilbur finally spoke up.
"I- you don't- I don't know what you're talking about", Sally lied, giving Wilbur a very fake innocent look.
"Yeah yeah, you're fired. And I'll know if you hurt Schlatt or do anything in the office. I'll call the police. And you might think you can counteract but you have no idea who or what you're dealing with", Wilbur stated, inspecting his nails closely as if having friendly conversation.
Sally's eyes widened and her face looked as if she'd seen a ghost. But it soon twisted into one of anger.
"You and your words Soot. Even if I can't have you, Schlatt can't either. Just you wait and see", Sally spat before walking towards the exit, pushing past Wilbur and shooting Schlatt a malicious glare.
Wilbur huffed and stared after her, shaking his head.
Schlatt wandered over to Wilbur and looked up into his face, searching for something, anything.
"Why're you looking at my face like that?", Wilbur asked, amused at Schlatt's expression.
"Seeing if there's something that'll tell me what you meant by your little threat to Sally", Schlatt responded.
"I don't believe there's any need to elaborate", Wilbur said, before stepping away from Schlatt and grabbing his hand, leading him to his office.
"So Schlatt, there's going to be a new worker soon. I originally planned for Sally to show them around, but she's out of the question now, so I want you to take what would've been her place", Wilbur said once they were inside his office.
"Oh, ok. What's their name?", Schlatt asked, taking the file Wilbur handed him and flipped through it, before his eyes landed on the photo clipped to the front, with the guy's name plastered across the front.
"His name is Jared."
