3 years later...

Tira walked into Nia's room to wake her up for her first day of 4th grade. Once Nia was awake, Tira went to Dylan room; her 3 year old son that looks just like Defonte. He laid in his small bed waiting for his mother arrival.
Dylan can hear perfectly like Defonte. When Tira was 8 months pregnant with Dylan she started to think about what would happen if Dylan was deaf. Tira wants Dylan to have a normal life and she tries her hardest to give Nia a normal life too. Dylan knows that his mother and sister can't talk but he doesn't know about their conditions. He just knows that daddy, momma and big sister speak with there hands when there together.
Defonte was shipped out 8 months ago and he was coming back today. Tira didn't tell the kids because she wanted to surprise them.

Tira went into Dylan's room and watched as he tried to fake sleep. Tira smiled and walk to her son, she pulled the cover off of him and instantly attack his feet. Dylan laughed and jumped on his mother to give her a hug and kiss on the cheek.

Tira got up with Dylan on her hip. She walked to his dresser, opened the top draw and picked up shirt after shirt until he nods in approval. After setting his outfit, cooking him and Nia breakfast, making them brush there teeth, wash up and get dress. Tira did her hygiene and got dressed into her appropriate attire for a teacher.

Tira still teaches first graders. She loves the job and teaching little kids. After getting dressed, Tira put the kids in the car and drove to school. Dylan goes to the daycare in the school; it's typically for 3 or 4 year olds that has parents that want them to learn sign language early. They teach them for a hour then let them play until there parents pick them up.

'If you need me, I'll be across the hall.' Tira said in sign language. 'Bye Ma' Nia gave Tira and Dylan a hug before walking into her class. Tira walked Dylan to daycare and as soon as they walk through the door, Dylan ran off to his friends.
Tira sighed and signed Dylan in before walking to her class. Memories of when she first started teaching and she met Defonte and Nia. Tira smiled and put her stuff on the desk. She wrote 'Sanders' on the board instead of Phillip.
The light flashing of the bell went off and little ones started to fill up the classroom.

After school Tira drove to the airport with the kids sleep in the back. She parked the car in the space, turned off the engine, unbuckled her seat belt and shook the kids awake. Nia unbuckled herself and Dylan while Tira got out the car and opened the door on Dylan side.
She picked Dylan up and grabbed Nia's hand as they walked into the airport in the waiting area.
5 minutes later Defonte just walked off the Airplane and walked to the waiting area where he sees the three people that he has been waiting to see again for 8 months. Defonte walked up to them, dropped his stuff and gave Tira a long passionate kiss, of course Tira kissed back.

Defonte pulled away and picked up Nia in his arms before kissing her cheek. Nia wrapped her small arms around Defonte neck like she was never going to let her go. "Daddy." Dylan reached out for him. "Sup little man." Defonte took him into his arm and kissed his cheek.

Tira puts the bag in the trunk while Defonte buckled the kids in. Tora was about to get in the driver seat before Defonte stopped her and suggested to drive. Tira gave him the keys without second guessing and got into the passenger side of the car.

Instead of Defonte driving straight to the house, he made a detour and drove to the NIH building or National Institution of Deafness. Tira looked at him confused while Defonte parked the car in the space.
'Come on' Defonte said before getting out the car. Tira hesitated before getting out the car and following behind Defonte while he was carrying the kids. Once they walk into the building, Defonte led Tira straight to the elevators and pressed the button for the 6th floor.

When the doors opened, Defonte mother came into view with a big smile on her face. Defonte kissed his mother on the cheek and thanked her. Tira gave her a hug before following both of them into a room with two doctors. 'Sit down.' Defonte mother suggested, while one of the doctors pulled out a chair for Tira. She sat down and Nia sat in front of her.
Defonte gave Dylan to his mother. Tira looked around confused and so did Nia. 'Babe, what's going on?' Tira asked.
'You'll find out. Just relax and let the doctor do their job.'
Tira nod and leaned back in the chair while the doctor put a device in her and Nia's ear. It's like one of there ears opened up to a new world.

"How does it feel?" Tira and Nia gasped. They can hear the doctor speak and other sounds around them. Tira eyes started to tear up. She looked at Nia face expression, Nia was so surprised, all of this was foreign to her. "Daddy?" She sobbed.

Tira started to cry. She never knew that she would ever hear again or even thought about hearing. "Babe?" She looked up at her loving husband. "Omg. Did you plan this?" She asked.
Defonte smiled "Ma, suggested it to me."
Tira turned to her mother-in-law and went up to her to give her a big hug "Thank you so much."
They pulled away "You're welcome sweetie." Defonte mother wiped Tira's tears. Tira stood up straight in front of Defonte and gave him a passionate kiss.
"Thank you baby."
Defonte wiped her tears "I love you."
"I love you too."
