Jade's POV:

We went inside and dad was overjoyed. He gave me his credit cards to shop for the wedding. It was next week. Elijah left and I went into my room. I was furious about everything that was happening. I went downstairs in the middle of the night and checked if dad was asleep. I snuck out of the house and was roaming in the quiet streets of New Orleans. I still had my red dress on. I went to a club and met Theo and Eliana. They were my college friends. They were three years older than me and managed to get me alcohol. We chatted for hours. It was just like old times. I loved college and friends. It was the best experience. We went to Eliana's house and played video games. I love video games. It's a chance to escape reality. Anyways, Theo offered to drop me home but I refused. My dad will kill him. I can't take any chances. I was so done with my life. I was walking in the quiet street and I saw a Chanel showroom. I went in and bought a couple of things. Dad did leave me his credit card. I was going home with shopping bags in my hand and heard something behind. I did not turn to look. I reached in my purse and grabbed a pepper spray. suddenly a man with a mask grabbed me from behind and covered my mouth to cover the screams. I kicked him in his balls and he fell onto the ground. I pepper-sprayed him and snatched the gun out of his hand. Another man was running towards me and I shot him in the legs which made him fall. I heard a hiss of air and my heart started beating faster than it already was. I turned around fast and nearly bumped into the man. It was Elijah.

"Oh god!" I whispered and stepped back at the sight of him. The man who I kicked in the balls got up and I shot him in his left leg in frustration. He whimpered and fell. Elijah looks at the shopping bags and the bottle of vodka in my bag.

"Took two men unarmed? Impressive." He says in his deep voice.

"Well. I've had my fair share of practice." I said and rolled my eyes.

I picked up the bags and winced and dropped them. He sped and picked up the bags and my arm with the other hand.

"Are you okay?" He asked. I was surprised by his concern and he is kinda cute but still, I am not into marrying him!

"Um no, I think my head is not right. Can you please check in my hair if something's wrong?" I asked.

"Yes sure. There's a bench over there. Come on." We sat on a bench and he stroked my hair and his fingertips were covered in blood.

"You're bleeding." He said. He bit his wrist and gestured me to drink. "Drink, it will heal your wound." He said.

"But wouldn't it hurt you?" I said hesitating.

"I am an original." He said. I grabbed his wrist and drank his blood a little bit. I felt so much better.

"Are you feeling better?" He asked.

"Yes. Thank you so much. Listen, I am sorry about earlier. I did not behave very nicely. I was just worked up. It's just I  had other plans about my life." I said looking into his chocolate brown eyes.

"I understand." He said.

"Let me take you home." He said and lifted the bags. He took me home and I snuck back in successfully.

I woke up to a terrible headache. ugh! why do I drink? But then again, my wedding is next week, so. Brenda woke me up and dad forced me to go shopping for bridesmaid dresses. My sister can't come because her daughter is having surgery. I hope she's okay. Dad's friends' daughters are gonna be my bridesmaids. I spent the whole fucking day shopping and listening to the bickering of bridesmaids about the dresses. It was a fucking long day. I went into my room and decided to go out for a drink with Theo and Eliana. I was just heading out.

"Where do you think you're going?" Dad asks.

"Out," I said with a plain tone.

"You're not allowed to go out until you're married." He said which irritated me a million times more.

"DAD! Come on !" I said which made him get up from the couch and he removed his belt. I stepped back and was terrified.

"O-okay, fine," I said and ran into my room with tears in my eyes. I was frustrated and felt like I was living in a prison. I mean I am gonna be married to a total stranger in a few days. I just put on my sweats and started listening to music. I grabbed the nearest sketchbook and started drawing whatever came into my mind. I hear a knock on my window and suddenly got up.

"Hey open up!" A familiar voice said.

"Theo!? What the fuck dude? Dad will kill you! Go away!"

"Too late. Let me in." I got up and opened the window and he hugged me. We sat down and we were talking. I told him all about the arranged marriage situation I was stuck in. He listened and it made me feel better. We were laying in bed. He was like a brother to me. I rested my head on his arm and he stroked my hair.

"I am sorry Jade. I had no idea about your crises."

"Thanks. I feel like my head is gonna explode."

"I think I should go. It's late." He said.

"Oh, you don't have to jump down the window. Dad's gone out with his friends. I heard his car go away half an hour ago." I say and walk him to the door.

"Hey Theo, thanks for listening," I said and a tear slid down my face. He hugged me and stroked my hair.

"It's gonna be okay." He whispered and then he left.

Elijah's POV:

I heard that Jade is on total lockdown by her father and the wound I saw on her face, I suspect it was her father's doing. Niklaus told me that she was quite resilient towards the marriage but when I got there, she didn't say a word in front of her father. I just want to check up on her. I went to her house and I can hear the soft sobs of a woman. Must be her. I saw her in the arms of a gentleman. He was tall and had blonde hair. He left and she sat on the bench in her front yard and was humming a song sadly. I went slowly so I don't startle her. She saw me and got up.

"Hey."

"Hello."

"Heard you are on lockdown."

"Well, yes."

"Who was that?"

"Who Theo? You know that guy best friend every girl has. On whom she can count on always. He is that."

"Oh."

"What are you doing here ?"

"Just figured you'd be bored. So I came to give you a little company." She chuckled.

"Well, I was bored in the daytime. Bridesmaid dress shopping. I don't know how I resisted banging my head into  the wall." He giggled.

"So shopping is not your kind of thrill?"

"No, I love shopping but only for myself. Besides, I prefer online shopping." He giggled.

After a few silent moments, "So what are we?" she said which made me a little stiff. I was afraid of having this conversation.
