The Official description of Mudwings paints a formidable picture: a thick, armored hide with flecks of amber and gold, and a large, flat head with nostrils ingeniously placed on the top of their snout, allowing them to breathe while under the surface of water. . . Or mud, of course. While they are not the flashiest dragons, less is definitely more when it comes to the Mudwing's abilities. They possess a strength unmatched by any other Tribe, camouflage and unprecedented breath-holding abilities (which make them valuable soldiers and assassins in the War), and fire-breath once they retain the appropriate body temperature. However, their most notable ability resides in the few members of their society born within a blood-red egg, who are virtually fireproof. Blend these brawny dragons with the other Tribes and super-soldiers are born.
Gravelwings
Mudwing/Icewing hybridImagine the Icewing's sleekness and beauty mixed with the Mudwing's brawn and strength. They would be as unbreakable as stone. Hence, their name: Gravelwings. (See full description under Part One)
Other names: Geyserwings
Swampwings
Mudwing/Nightwing hybridDangerous and mysterious, Swampwings were the first to side with Pantala at the start of the Third War and became the most-feared assassins in the world. Very muscular with powerful wings and impetretable scales. Their signature mark is their unusual silvery-bloodred flecks under their wings, which dubbed their cult "The Bloodwings". They are the strongest fire-breathers of all the hybrids, and are almost impossible to detect due to their ability to camouflage and to go long periods of time without breathing. They can possess the Nightwing skills of fortune-telling and/or mind-reading if they are hatched under one or more moon, as well as have the genetic chance of being an animus. Those born in blood-red eggs can possess the Mudwing fireproof scales.
Other names: Bloodwings, Assassinwings, Emberwings
Puddlewings
Mudwing/Rainwing hybridSometimes beauty looks strange. The hybrids of the mighty Mudwing and the stunning Rainwing are known for their unusual diluted swirls of color on their wings and the edges of their scales. They are not very strong fliers; they are known to be lazy and uncaring, though some among them are known for weapon-making and blacksmithing. They can rotate between fire-breath (when at the appropriate body temperature), Rainwing venom, or a combination of the two. This combination of Fire and venom is often referred to as "death-fire"; this name is highly appropriate, as the burns left by the initial fire allow the venom to penetrate the skin faster, leading to a very painful death. It can also melt through essentially every substance in the land, except for diamonds.
Other names: Oilwings, Metalwings (for those in the blacksmithing profession)
Earthwings
Mudwing/Sandwing hybridThe simplicity of the Mudwing-Sandwing makes them unique. They are strong fire-breathers and have great camouflage. Some of them have the the Sandwing tail stinger and venom; fifty-percent of Earthwings tend to be shade of pale brown that is unseen anywhere else in the dragon world and all of them possess bright green or bright blue eyes. These laidback and fun-loving dragons are creative and clever, as well as resilient survivors due to their ability to last without air and water for periods of time, and- should they hatch from a bloodred egg- their invincibility to fire.
Bogwings
Mudwing/Seawing hybridThese dragons are very big and muscular due to their parent tribes' natural builds. Unfortunately, due to this fact, they have faced harsh prejudice and are seen as the joke of the dragon world. However, their skills and resolve are undeniable. Bogwings are very strong and are extremely powerful swimmers. No dragon can hold their breath longer than a Bogwing. They are nearly undetectable underwater and make very skilled spies for both sides of the War.
Other names: Bigwings (discriminating term), Fatwings (discriminating term)
Mountainwings
Mudwing/Skywing hybridVery large and strong. These dragons are extremely strong fliers and can go higher in altitude than any other Tribe or hybrid, making them valuable for surveillance and reconnaissance. They are also powerful fire-breathers.
Cicadawings
Mudwing/Silkwing hybridsInsect-like and strange, but beautiful. For reasons unexplained, Cicadawings are one of the four Silkwing hybrids who can engage in some form of Metamorphosis. For Cicadawings, they tend to sink into the mud and encase themselves in a hard exoskeleton until their wings develop. When they emerge, their wings resemble Mudwing wings except for the iridescent wing membrane instead of brown. It is also common that they develop an iridescent glow to their natural colors. There have been very rare occurrence where a Cicadawing is hatched from a bloodred egg and also recieved the ability to spin flamesilk after Metamorphosis; these dragons, often referred to as "firewings" are a highly prized asset and part of what sparked the Third War.
Other names: Firewings, Bronzewings
Oakwings
Mudwing/Leafwing hybridSturdy and reliable. These dragons tend to be highly intelligent, most of them becoming scientists or doctors. They have great camouflage, can possess the ability of leafspeak, and can be fireproof if they hatch from a bloodred egg.
Bumblewings
Mudwing/Hivewing hybridA cute name for a very formidable hybrid. These dragons are named after bumblebees because of their tendency to possess the Mudwing build with the Hivewing black-and-yellow/orange/red scales. Their abilities make them dangerous, as they can possess all or none of the Hivewing's poisonous abilities, which can result in death-fire. They can also have fire-proof scales if they hatch from a bloodred egg.
