Once enslaved to their Hivewing neighbors, Silkwings have since learned to spread their wings and better explore their skills and abilities. An inheritly peaceful and timid Tribe, Silkwings bring a quiet beauty and curiosity to our war-riddled world. Once a strange sight on Pyrrhia, their appearance has now become familiar and even comforting: long antennae, four large butterfly-like wings, and iridescent scales of every color except for black. Their necessity for Metamorphosis and unique ability to spin silk has led to forests of quiet reflection and interlocking webs across both lands, improving transportation and communication. With such influence coming from the pure-blood Silkwings, one could only imagine to impact from offspring born between them and other Tribes.

Iciclewings
Silkwing/Icewing hybrids

Metallic and cold. These dragons tend to have the appearance of molten silvers and/or blues. Most of these hybrids do not undergo the traditional Silkwing Metamorphosis due to their Icewing blood, nor has there been a report of any hybrid possessing the ability to spin flamesilk. Those who possess Silkwing silk glands are able to spin a beautiful frosted silk that is commonly referred to as "snow lace" and used for decoration.

Other names: Silverwings

Cicadawings
Silkwing/Mudwing hybrids

Insect-like and strange, but beautiful. For reasons unexplained, Cicadawings are one of the four Silkwing hybrids who can engage in some form of Metamorphosis. For Cicadawings, they tend to sink into the mud and encase themselves in a hard exoskeleton until their wings develop. When they emerge, their wings resemble Mudwing wings except for the iridescent wing membrane instead of brown. It is also common that they develop an iridescent glow to their natural colors. There have been very rare occurrence where a Cicadawing is hatched from a bloodred egg and also recieved the ability to spin flamesilk after Metamorphosis; these dragons, often referred to as "firewings" are a highly prized asset and part of what sparked the Third War.

Other names: Firewings, Bronzewings

Cometwings
Silkwing/Nightwing hybrids

Formidable and hard. These dragons have the toughest scales that we know of. Their scales tend to be a shiny onyx-black with iridescent speckles or streaks on the underside of their wings. These dragons do not undergo the Silkwing Metamorphosis, but are one of the few Silkwing hybrids who can have flamesilk. Because of this, it is believed that only Silkwing hybrids with a fire-breathing parent can weave flamesilk successfully.

Other names: Onyxwings

Spiderwings
Silkwing/Rainwing hybrids

The most colorful dragon in existence, Spiderwings are one of four Silkwing hybrids that undergo a form of Metamorphosis. Their Metamorphosis resembles the traditional Silkwing Metamorphosis, with the dragonet wrapping themselves into a silk coccoon until their wings have fully grown. Even though they have a Metamorphosis, these hybrids have yet to produce a flamesilk dragon. Because of both parent Tribes' inherit traits, Spiderwings are fantastic climbers, even able to climb up a sheer wall of rock or ice (hence their name). Their coloring is so unique and numerous, that it is believed that there are no two Spiderwings that look the same. Some hybrids possess the Rainwing venom, while others don't.

Scorpionwings
Silkwing/Sandwing hybrids

Astounding dragons with tough, bronze scales and unexplainably strong Sandwing venom. Scorpionwings do not undergo the traditional Silkwing Metamorphosis, instead hatching from eggs fully formed like Sandwing hatchling. They can possess the ability to produce silk, as well as flamesilk. These dragons can be aggressive and fierce, but if you gain their trust, they make protective and resourceful companions.

Other name(s): Bronzewings

Webwings
Silkwing/Seawing hybrids

Mystical and alluring. These community-oriented dragons are vibrantly colored and often travel in pods. Although they do enjoy swimming and being near the water like their Seawing relatives, they prefer to use their Silkwing silk to create suspended villages and homes above smaller bodies of water, like lakes or rivers. Many Webwings undergo Metamorphosis in order to grow their wings and it is often during this time that they could develop animus powers. This strange deviation of developing animus powers later in life- rather than being born with them like the other tribes- is one us scientists are still seeking to understand.

Other names: Podwings

Mothwings
Silkwing/Skywing hybrids

Quirky. Curious. Seclusive. All these words accurately describe these hybrid dragons. These dragons are large and colorful, often being in various shades of warm colors like reds, oranges, yellows, and golds. Their wings are their most notable trait, as they are so large and beautiful- right from the moment they emerge from their Metamorphosis. These dragons also possess the greatest skill with fire and consider it their most valuable resource. There is a legend of the "Flamewing", which will be an aminus dragonet born with both firescales and the ability to spin flamesilk.

Other names: Firewings

Vinewings
Silkwing/Leafwing hybrids

A mellow, yet extremely keen hybrid, Vinewings nurture and guard nature and its inhabitants. These dragons come in all the vibrant colors of their Silkwing parents (except black, of course), but always have noticeable splashes of greens among their scales. They do not undergo Metamorphosis, nor have they produced any flamesilk-creating dragons.

Goldwings
Silkwing/Hivewing hybrids

Playful and extremely cunning, these dragons are as bright and valuable to any society they join as their namesake is. They often come in brilliant shades of molten golds, amber, and bronze, and do not undergo the Silkwing Metamorphosis. They can possess any, all, or none of the Hivewing stingers or acid, but they are least likely of the Hivewing hybrids to ever use this ability. Instead, Goldwings often become teachers, scientists, or explorers. Their curiosity and intelligence leads them to expand their knowledge and share their discoveries with the world.
