Amelia's POV:
I sighed as I made my way out of the car and toward the liquor store. I was exhausted, my body hurt, but this was my last stop. Then I could hopefully rest a bit before preparing the fold for dinner.
My phone rang. I looked down and it was my mother. I reached the sidewalk and answered it. Before I saw him coming a large hooded man smashed into me. I started to fall, but he yanked me around the corner whipping my sore body around and slammed me protectively against the brick wall.
"AMELIA! YOU BETTER STOP IGNORING ME!" my mother belted into the phone. The strange man grabbed my hand and ended the call.
I froze. Something about him seemed familiar. "Stay quiet, please," he pled as I silenced my phone before my mother could call back.
As we heard a group of people rush toward us, he huddled around me, pressing me harder against the wall. "Ow!" I called out in suprise as he covered my moth and shielded me from view.
The crowd rushed past, but we stood there for a moment, frozen. When the coast was clear, he stepped back, his chest heaving. "Are you alright?" He asked worriedly looking down at me.
I glared defiantly up at him. "What do you think? You have no idea what you just did," I spoke.
"I'm sorry, I panicked. I couldn't let them find me," he spoke. A notification lit up on my phone.
I glanced down. "Hugh Hunt runs from 1.6 million dollar wedding" it read.
"You're Hugh Hunt," I spoke matter of factly as I started coughing a bit. I held back the blood that tried to spill from my lips as I coughed. I tuned my head away.
"Are you alright?" He asked worriedly, stepping toward me, reaching out and placing a hand on my shoulder.
"You ask that alot," I smirked. "I'm guessing you need a place to lie low for a bit, don't you?" I spoke, showing him the news blurb on my phone. As I did, my mother attempted to call me again. He nodded. "Just trust me, okay," I spoke and he stared at me nervously.
"One second please," I spoke. I clicked answer. "Hello mother, I apologize for before."
"You stupid insufferable bitch, you better hurry back, don't give me sorry," she yelled into the phone. Before she could yell again, I spoke.
"I ran into Hugh Hunt, he needs a place to stay for a bit, to lay low from the paparazzi. Would it be alright for him to stay in a guest room? I know Thanksgiving week is important to the family, but I think it would be nice to help him out," I smiled.
"You dumb idiot. You didn't run into Hugh Hunt, he is getting married today," she yelled back.
"One moment mother," I spoke putting her on hold. "Will you take a quick picture with me, so I can prove I'm not just mistaking you for someone else?"
He let out a soft chuckle and pulled back his hood. We took a quick selfie and I sent it to my mother. Then I took her off hold.
"Is that really Hugh?"
"Yes," I replied.
"He can come, and we will keep his secret. He may have to hide from dinner tonight due to the amount of people over, but after that he can spend time with us," she replied.
"I'll let him know, thank you," I replied.
"You've put me in a good mood. Don't fuck up tonight," she sneered before hanging up the call.
"You can come stay with us for a bit, tonight we are having a large get together with family. You may want to hide from that, though I'm sure if we explained your situation, they'd keep your secret. A fair warning though my mother isn't the most pleasant person to be around. She has dementia, anger issues, and impulse control issues. Just try to stay out of her way if you can. It's not ideal, but you'd have a warm place to stay for a bit where no one would find you."
"Why would you help me? You don't know me," he asked.
"Everyone needs a little help sometimes," I smiled.
