Adwin's Pov

Today is Calum's birthday.  Still wrestling with the fact that he's older than me, seems wrong.

Haven't spoken to each other yet today. Everything since new years has just been a blur. literally Of course we started school again after winter break so we saw each other everyday. I haven't said anything to Mikey or Inez though, about what happened with no logical explanation as to why. So Calum and I have just sat around our friends sharing stares and exchanging no words for a few weeks.

I am determined for today of all days to be the thing that changes that. It being Monday was not going to put a wrench in any of my plans.

Getting ready for school was a breeze and as I skipped out the front door mom Jenny caller out, "Hey Adwin burgers for dinner tonight,"

I hate burgers.

Freezing in the doorway I turned to her, "Mom I'm going out with Calum,"

And with no hesitation she said, "Oh about time. I don't see what that has to do with din-"

"What? Oh my god no no not going out like that like it's his birthday today and we're going to be together,"

Her face fell slightly but nevertheless she threw her long red hair over her shoulder and smiled, "Well never mind then. I love you, Adwin."

The wind tickled my face but I made sure to tell her I loved her too.

I have a good feeling about today. Driving to school was fine. For once Michael rode with his girlfriend rather than me so I got to choose the music in my own car. On the way I took a curl and bounced it. I should braid my hair soon.

It was beyond chilly when I stepped out of my car. Felt like no matter how many layers I wore I'd still feel the cold. Nevertheless I marched into school, my loafers clicking on the hard floors.

Upon entering the building, the first person I see is Inez. Instantly she cheesed at me, "Ooo Adwin have you seen your boyfriend today?"

"No in fact I haven't seen him yet,"

Her eyes widened slightly, "Wait are you guys actually dating? When did that happen?"

"No we're not there's just literally no use arguing with you about it,"

Inez and I stood together for a few more minutes just chatting when someone taller approached me from behind. I turned around expecting Calum but was kind of shocked to see Jamie.

The smile on my face didn't falter, "Hi Jamie,"

His brown eyes were as soft as they always were. He's gotten a haircut since the last time we spoke though.

"Hey Adwin," he rubbed his wrist, something he's done when he was nervous for as long as I can remember, "Can we maybe talk?"

"Talk like right now? Well only if you walk me to class,"

He smiled a tiny smile but agreed nonetheless. I hoisted my bag over my shoulder again and looked at Inez. We had a silent conversation with just our eyes. She wouldn't understand but I'll always feel like I owe him.

"See you later Inesita,"

To which she rolled her eyes.

Gradually Jamie and I strolled around campus taking longer than necessary to reach my classroom. It was getting kind of awkward with the silence from him and the chatter of school in the background.
