chapter 8- we fell in love in october girl in red

"Damnnnnnn Inez you're so hot,"

She had walked out from my bathroom in her halloween costume. We really did end up doing a group thing like we talked about.

Inez was dressed as princess Leia in her gold slave bikini because Mikey was Han. You may be wondering, why isn't she just regular Leia? Wouldn't a bikini costume during fall in Washington be freezing? And to answer the latter, yes. It's so cold out right now I genuinely fear her nipples might fall off. But the reason she's not regular and warmly dressed Leia is most definitely because Ashton and Michael planned a couples costume together. Completely ignoring Inez's existence the boys bought their shit and were really in for it when Inez found out.

We were all going to meet up at Luke's house before walking down the road to some party. I don't know whose house, I honestly didn't really want to go. Just wanted to trick or treat but Michael said I was too old. And I know deep down he'd rather stay at home too, but having boy friends to hangout with excites him way more.

The five of us had gotten closer since last month. It became routine that after practice Calum would come to Mali's to work with me. Every now and then he'd sit alone with her in her office for an hour or so and he'd always come out a little happier. But for the most part we just chased each other around the studio and ran errands for his sister. It's crazy to think I was working for my friend's older sibling before they were my friend.

When we weren't at work, we were sitting at lunch tables together. Back in september I refused to eat in the cafeteria but now I liked spending all the time I could with my friends. Luke and Michael were really loud around each other and always making a mess. Inez would reprimand them but you can tell she thought it was funny when Mike laughed so hard milk shot out his nose. Calum would steal glances at me from wherever we were sitting. They weren't secret but they were just for me. If we happened to sit next to each other our arms would touch, or our thighs would be squished together. Maybe it was all accidental. But I hoped it wasn't.

I had also noticed that Calum likes to run his knuckles over mine. It'll be random, when we're doing literally anything. And the ripple of his knuckles across my hand will bring me back to earth but also send my heart racing. It was small and silly but it felt so uniquely Calum.

Our little group had gotten so close though that Luke and Cal were even invited to Inez's birthday party. The past few years it's been very exclusive just Michael and I. But on friday the 18th of september Inez had the gang over to her beach house for dinner. Mike and I were used to Inez's more posh lifestyle at this point. She usually always had her birthday at the beach house as a like back to school thing so we thought nothing of it. But Luke seemed incredibly nervous and overdressed when he showed up to her house in a blazer and glitter eyeshadow. I couldn't blame him though, he fit right in with Inez and I's fancy dresses and pretty makeup. Mike was always dressed down and we all knew that. Calum threw on a leather jacket over his usual green hoodie and called it a day.

A good fucking day.

It was cute though, I got really good pictures of them all playing in the sand afterwards.

We spent the next few weeks together. In school for the most part but a bond was formed very quickly. Mike had expanded on his little boyfriend collection, Inez got to nerd out with Luke and well Calum to me was...

This brings us all to now. Me sitting on my bed in a Rey costume. Ashton was downstairs helping the moms with trick or treaters. I know for a fact he was in full costume already too. He reallllly likes halloween. A little R2-D2 bot was running around our house as we speak. Mike was slouched in my desk chair visibly gulping at the sight of his girlfriend.
