chapter 4- heartbreak girl 5 seconds of summerA few nights had passed since Calum and I's interview sesh. There was still a lot to learn about him and I'd hardly call us friends but he lived in my mind for those few days. I tried not to think about him or his dimple while I sat at my bar.
It was Friday night now, and the clinking of cutlery and Mikey's loud ass laugh, left no room for silly thoughts about boys. When I got back a few months ago, moms made the executive decision to have family dinners on fridays. And well Mikey, Inez, and Ashton were family.
Mom broke her own rules and couldn't make it home for dinner tonight. She's a senator and the capital is a ways away from home. She works hard for us to live the lifestyle we do. If she didn't work like she did we probably wouldn't've been able to afford my rehab and bunches of therapists so I mean it when I say I am incredibly grateful for my mom. It's hard not to miss her though.
Momma sat on the countertop, her green skirt cascaded down the side. Ashton and them were at the dining table scarfing down their food like they've never eaten before. I'd expect this from the boys, but usually Inez is so put together. The three of them are like an accident waiting to happen.
I had my back partially to the group as I took small bites of my food. It was some type of vegetarian pasta because momma and I didn't eat meat. Well momma chose not to, I just... couldn't.
"Soo how was hanging out with Mr.Soccer, Adwin?" Mikey's voice called out. Oh god.
I let out a cough showing I definitely wasn't ready for that question. I turned to face everyone else and shrugged, "Whatever are you talking about Michael?"
"Oh don't bullshit us, is it true he's packing-" Inez gasped and smacked Mike's arm.
"Michael," she scolded.
"Sorry,"
From her spot on the counter my mom raised her hand like we were in a classroom. After wiping her mouth with a napkin she asked, "Um who is Mr.Soccer, Adwin?" We were directly across from each other so I had no choice but to look her in the eyes. As I opened my mouth to respond, Mike beat me to it.
"Mr.Soccer, is this fine piece of soccer ass named Calum Hood, he's a fellow classmate in our grade and Adwin over here spent all of Tuesday afternoon with him," Momma's eyes widened a bit but she pretended to be indifferent.
"A boy huh?"
"Oh my god it's not like that, we're partners on an English project," Her gray eyes bore into mine and they seemed to ask about a million questions. Questions I definitely wasn't going to answer right now.
"You know he has a girlfriend right?"
Wait what.
Tearing my gaze from my mom I looked to the table where Inez spoke. She was still stabbing at her past and barely glanced up. Mikey's expression screamed "I definitely forgot that bit"and Ashton just seemed happy to be here.
"Okay and? It's not like I wanna date him,"
"No one said you did," Michael smirked and in response I threw my crumpled up napkin at him.
"Yeah her name's Sophia, they've been on and off since like sophomore year. She's captain of the debate team and a cheerleader or something. Cute, real perky,"
Listening to Inez, I put my fork down with a clink, "Oh," was all I could really say.

After we cleaned up dinner and everyone went home, I floated up to my room just kind of out of it all. I didn't like Calum like that or anything, but you know a tiny desperate part of me hoped maybe we could be friends or something. I also, however, didn't want to step on this girl Sophia's toes by hanging around her man.
