"Hey Jay, can you come over here for a minute?"
Jade walked over to the couple sitting by the table. "What is it Jackie?"
"Erik and I were discussing where we should live, and we decided that since he wants to become a mercenary, we would travel across Tamriel together."
"That's great!" Her voice drooped unable to hide the disappointment of her friend leaving. "But, who's going to be in charge of the Guild while you're gone?"
"I've already talked to Bryn about that. He's going to look after the Guild. Anyways, the point of this is that I won't be living in Riften anymore, and I heard from Constance that you were looking for a house, so I was wondering, would you be interested in buying Honeyside from me?"
"Wait, what?"
"My house, across the bridge from the Bee and Barb. Would you be interested in buying it from me? It's already fully furnished, except for a child's room for...what was her name? Sofie? You'd have to talk to the steward about that, but it's in good condition. And you can always as Talen-Jei and Keerava to look after your girl when you're out."
"Wait, how do you know about Sofie?"
Jackie chuckled at her confusion, "You think you're the only one who's been to Honorhall?"
Erik spoke looking affectionately at Jackie, "Jacklyn and went there last night. We're going to adopt the Hroar, Francois and Samuel when we've made enough money going out on jobs."
Jackie returned the stare, "The cost of the house is kind of steep since it's already furnished, but how does eight thousand septims sound?"
"Eight thousand for a house here in town without a child's room...Deal."
"Excellent! Here's the deed." The two exchanged the paper deed and the gold purse.
Jade bid the couple goodbye as she ran out of the Ratway, to Mistveil Keep finding Jarl Laila and Maven Black Briar conversing.
"Maven! Always a pleasure to receive you. What can I help you with today?"
"Thank you, Laila. I wanted to discuss the protection of my shipments."
"Yes, indeed. An entire caravan shipment of your mead taken by Imperial soldiers. What of it?"
"Well, I'm also certain you're aware that our own city guard failed to provide the protection required to ensure safe passage of the shipment."
"I am aware. We lost three soldiers in that attack. A sad day for Riften."
"Quite. To be brief, I need compensation for the lost shipment. Since Riften was responsible for it, Riften should pay for it."
"We... don't have enough to..."
Maven spoke threateningly, "Laila, Riften is my home, but if my meadery can't be safe here, I'll just move it elsewhere."
"No, no, that won't be necessary. You'll have compensation for your loss." She rushed, worried.
"Thank you, Laila." Maven walked towards the doors, passing by Jade. "Oh, if it isn't Brynjolf precious little protege. What are you still doing here? I heard you got kicked out of your little group of thieves. Killed someone did we?"
"I would watch you're tongue if I were you, Black-Brair."
Maven spoke in a whisper, "Let me give you some friendly advice. Speak to me like that again and I might just hire the Dark Brotherhood to come after you." Sensing that Jade wasn't thrown by her threat she continued, "Or how about I stop funding you're guild. Let's see how well they all fair without me at their backs."
