The next morning the three friends in the Routledge house were sticking to their plan easily.

Once they anchored in the marsh, John B had already locked Sarah in whilst JJ and Jaz were opening up the latch covering the alternator.

Soon enough, John B was back and they were all observing the perfectly fine alternator.

"What happened?" Kie said abruptly when she appeared through the doorway, making Jaz sigh and constantly try to avoid eye contact.

"Uhh, the alternator's, uh, not alternating anymore." JJ piped up.

"It's not charged." John B added.

"Did you check the plugs?"

"No. No, you should check 'em." JJ insisted as they all got up from their crouch, "give it a whirl."

"What? Why can't- why cant Jaz do it or something?"

"She's occupied," JJ put his hands up in innocence.

"You guys are useless." She whined.

Once the curly haired girl was crouched looking at the mechanism the three were quick on escaping, ignoring the girls statement and all jumping into the water.

Once the three in the water made it to the HMS Pogue they couldn't help but giggle at their plan they set in motion, ignoring the two girls on the boat's cries.

"Get your asses back here!" Kie shouted.

"We can't. Not till you two figure it out."

"I will kill every single one of you!"

Jaz and JJ smiled at each other in amusement. Deep down Jazlyn did sort of feel bad because she had her own problems she was putting off, specifically with her brother. She sighed at the thought of having to work everything out with him.

"and JJ and Jaz rolled a blunt each!" Pope threw a thumbs up.

Jazlyn snapped out of her thought to her name, "Hydroponic!" JJ smiled.

Before the two could catch them the other three were off into the water with big smiles that their plan had been working.

Later that evening, JJ had gone somewhere- probably work but they weren't really keeping track since Jaz had fallen asleep-, and Pope had made his way home. It was just the Routledge siblings left.

"John." Jaz came out of her room, rubbing her eyes from just waking up, "What're we doing for dinner?"

"I dunno, we can get food or something, there might be food left from last night." He shrugged focusing back on the journals the girl had recognized to be their fathers.

"Um, okay." She said bluntly with a sigh, slyly slipping out of the sleeve that supported her shoulder. She wasn't in too much pain, not as much as she was the few days ago. The cast that held her forearm was also getting more, and more comfortable since it was one she could take off with ease.

It didn't take much for her brother to notice her annoyance towards him. He had never been one to confront people when it came to apologizing, especially when it was someone like Jaz, who he rarely had arguments with.

"Ok, you know what," John B abruptly got up from his seat, stopping Jaz in her tracks due to his outburst, "let's just get this over with Jaz. I'm actually really hungry and I want to go eat. So, I'm sorry for telling Ward he can kind of adopt us without your permission."

All the girl could let out was a scoff. They both knew he didn't mean his apology. It wasn't like she desperately needed an apology to make herself feel less guilty about their arguments. But, she really missed being able to talk to her brother and just skimming over their problems wouldn't put things back to normal like they wished. She especially noticed a dent in their communication since their dad went missing, it was hard for them since they had the same opinion and view about it but all at different times. If their feelings aligned it would've been much easier understanding another but, obviously, that's not how the world works. So, the boy's gotta mean that damn apology if he wants to eat.
