Chapter 1 - Important Phonecall

SOPHIE POV

Hi, my name is Sophie Harris, and you may have heard of my older sister Ashlyn Harris. Well, I was born in Miami. I am 19 years old, and I'm currently in the lead of the F2 world championship as part of the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team's driver academy. You may have heard of another driver who has been in the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team driver academy George Russel well he has just been announced as the new Mercedes driver for the 2022 season alongside the GOAT Lewis Hamilton 7 time world champion and hopefully by the end of the season a record breaking 8. I have earned hundreds of millions of dollars from my business ventures and investments but i promise im not a pay driver im simply a great driver who just so happens to earn a lot of money out with racing.
Anyway, let's get into the story, shall we?

Ring Ring Ring

Who the hell is calling me at this time in the morning? I say as I look over at the clock and see that it's 5 AM in here in Miami. The day before, I travel to Italy and, more specifically, monza the home of the tifosi for the f2 races there, so I was hoping to have a little longer sleep. My flight is at 3 pm, so I was planning on sleeping in a bit longer, but I guess whoever is calling has other ideas.

"Hello?"

"Hello Sophie, it's Toto. I was wondering if you could talk before you fly to italy. I know it's  early for you over there, but we need to talk."

I shot up when I heard a totos voice.

" Yeah, I can speak now. What's the problem?"

" Well as you know we have been looking to sign george for next year at mercedes with valterri moving elsewhere so im just calling you to say that we have spoken to Jost (Williams team principally)to see if he can get you in the williams for next season"

"Oh my god, are you serious," I say anxiously

I hear him chuckle down the phone " yes im very serious he wants to meet you when you arrive in monza on monday so when you arrive someone from williams will pick you up at the airport and will take you to monza and let you meet Jost at the williams paddock and he will take you to his office to discuss your contract, dont worry you will still be apart of the driver academy but you will be taking the same path as george has at the start of his career and could see you progress to mercedes in the future. Now we haven't announced anything yet as we are just about to start the zandvoort GP, but an announcement regarding Valtteri will come out tomorrow about his move to Alfa, and George will be announced on Tuesday. Hopefully, discussions between you and Jost will go well, and you could be announced for next season come before the russian GP. After all the details, the legal and promo have been completed."

"Oh my god, Toto, thank you so so much for believing in me and signing me into the driver academy. I wouldn't be in this position if you never gave me the chance, so thank you." I say, tearing up slightly.

"It's not a problem, Sophie, because it's not hard to believe in you when you are such a talented driver, and who knows, maybe in a few years, you will be world drivers champion and i will see you when you have finished with Jost before you start practice in F2"

"Ok, I will see you then, Toto, and thank you again. Bye."

"AHHHHHHHHHHHH, LETS GOOOOOOOOO" I scream, forgetting my parents are just downstairs and are now scrambling up the stairs to see what's happened... whoops. Yes i still live with my parents despite being rich through the money i have earned from my businesses but why would i want to live in an empty house by myself when i cab stay with my parents and have some company but i am thinking of moving out soon maybe after im announced as an f1 driver for next season if it happens i will look for a house near oxfordshire where willaims are located and then buy a house in miami for the season breaks when im not needed at the williams hq.

Speaking of parents...

"WHAT" my mom says as she slams through the door, almost taking it off the hinges.

I jump and squeal a little, not expecting the police raid-esque door opening.

"What's wrong, sophie? Are you ok?" My dad says

" Oh yeah, Toto just called, and he said that I will be meeting Jost when I go to italy tomorrow to discuss a contract for the 2022 season in F1!!" I shout at the end as I'm ecstatic.

"OH MY GOD" My mom squeals as she jumps on me.

I start laughing and cuddle into my mom.

We both sit up "so what happens now then?" My mom asks

"Well i fly out as normal tomorrow to monza for the race but instead of going to the f2 paddock and joining up with the guys at ART a williams team membee will pick me up and take me to the f1 paddock and we will discuss the contract then. But right now, I'm going to start packing before the Zandvoort GP starts." I say

"Ok honey, well, we'll leave you to it." My mom says before they both leave.

*Time Skip*

"And it's Max Vertsappen, who wins the Zabdvoort GP," Crofty says as Verstappen crosses the line.

"Dammit, why did he have to win it?" I say as it turns off the TV.

A/N

Hi guys, I hope you enjoyed the first chapter of my first story. This story will follow the f1 2021, f2 2021 season when it's mentioned I won't change anything too major except for when it involves the main character directly, i.e., driver transfers and race wins, etc. It will be a couple more chapter before the USWNT is included in the story as i will be focussing on Sophies rise to formula 1 to begin with and if (hehe) she does get the drive then i will incorporate other povs and who knows we may see other f1 driver povs aswell.

Anyway, thanks again for reading my story, and I will try to get 2 chapters out most days.
