NOTE: This chapter will include the bombing that happened at the Aramco oil depot a couple kilometres away from the track as it was a topical part of the weekend and very controversial in the way that the rest of the weekend panned out.

SOPHIE POV

Today is Wednesday and we are in Saudi Arabia for the Saudi GP, Ash and Ali had to fly back to the States after we arrived in Saudi Arabia on Monday afternoon Ash and Ali managed to come here with me again along with my parents, Ash and Ali picked up injuries in the training in the run up to the challenge cup so instead of sitting out of the games and doing nothing they called me and asked if they could come watch the Bahrain GP.

Luckily they should be back ready to go in 2 weeks time so they can still help their team in the cup so we get to spend time together and Ash and Ali get a holiday, win win.

Anyway we are currently having dinner as a family in a restaurant near the hotel.

"So Ash, Ali how are the injuries? hope there wasn't any extra curricular activities that may have prolonged your recovery time." I say with a grin on my face while Ash and Ali go slightly red.

"Sophie! that is no way to talk to your sister at the dinner table" my mom scolds while slapping the back of my head

"Hey, hey hey watch it. I can't afford to be given a concussion a couple days before the race because my mother decided physical abuse upon her child was a necessary punishment to a joke" I say with a sly grin

"You may have got older Sophie but your never too old for an ass whoopin" Mom says with a straight face that makes me slightly recoil into my seat.

"To answer your question Sophie, no our injuries are perfectly fine and we are still on track to getting back in 2 weeks and maybe even earlier." Ali says seemingly trying to redirect the conversation.

As we continue through dinner we continue through the night we eventually made it back to our hotel rooms seeing as little Sloane had to go to bed so I decided to give Mal a phonecall checking the time and seeing that it should be around 3pm.

"Hey Soph" Mal says when she picks up the phone.

"Hey Mal, I didnt interrupt anything did I?" I ask worried knowing she might be out with some of her teammates.

"Nah you didn't I was just about to watch a movie with some of the team, whats up?" she says

"I was just checking in since we havent talked for a couple days and was wondering how you were." I say

"I'm doing fine, miss you though" She says with a little tremble at the end

"I know baby and I miss you too, how about after this race I fly over to Chicago and we can spend the week together before I have to head back to England?" I ask

"Yes!" She shouts down the line making me chuckle.

"Ok I'll get everything sorted out for flying back tomorrow morning before I head down to the press area but right now I need some sleep so I'll talk to tomorrow Mally" I say

"Talk to you tomorrow superstar stay safe" She says before we hang up.

I end up getting to sleep quicker than I have done the last few days, must be because I managed to talk to Mal today.

"Guys I'm sure I could smell burning out there, was that us or someone else?" I ask James and Jost who look quite distracted which is odd for the two.

"No it wasn't us or anyone else on track, there was an explosion or a bomb that went off at the Aramco oil depot a couple miles from here and that's what you could smell, quite a few other drivers noticed the smell aswell." James says
