Spencer and Y/n make their way through other employees who were also rushing around to get work done at a timely manner. The pair walk through the doors that read 'BAU' it white letters and into the bullpen. Others were sitting typing away on their computers.
Y/n surprisingly had convinced Spencer to allow her to come into work today. He made a very strict rule that she was not to even touch a file. She thought he was dramatic but he was very serious on the rule so she abided.
"My peanut! You're back!" Garcia squeals, rushing down the steps from Emily's office.
Y/n laughs as Garcia engulfs her in a hug, shaking her back and forth. " Hi Garcia, I missed you too." They pull out of the hug, smiles still on their face.
"You're not back to work though right? Are you sure three weeks is enough time to be on bed rest?" She questions, a concerned look on her face. Y/n shakes her head, " nope, I still have a week before I'm aloud to come back but I figured I might as well get out of the apartment for once." She shrugs.
"Wonderful! We have a case but you can accompany me in my office today." Garcia gives her a cheeky smile before turning on her toes and walking towards the rest of the team that were all sitting at their desks making conversation.
Spencer and Y/n follow her, "we have a case my furry friends, to the round table room we go." She exclaims, pointing towards the stairs. The team follows her into the room, Y/n sitting next to JJ and Luke.
"Alrighty, today you will be staying in Virginia to take on a case that I like to call absolutely horrifying." She speaks quickly, flashing to a photo of a woman looking to be in her teenage years. Her face appeared perfectly fine but her body was covered in burns. "16 year old April Hanson was found dead in a park this morning. Cause of death was the ligature marks to her throat that you can barely see because they are covered by the multiple burns she was given." Garcia cringes, trying not to look at the photos.
Spencer leaned in to get a better look of the photo as Garcia flashes the screen to a zoomed in picture of April's neck. "So the burns were postmortem?" JJ asks. "Yes, it was extreme overkill." Emily chimed in.
Spencer squints, "These burns aren't from a fire, they look to be from a steam iron." He explains, catching the teams attention " you can see by the edges, every time the unsub would move the device to burn her more it leaves a very outlined edge." He turns towards the team, "our unsub is most likely a women. Especially with how detailed the murder is."
