He runs to her, kneeling down next to her. She is gasping for breath, drowning in the blood that is trying to clog her throat. He leans her forward, trying to help her cough up the blood. It forms a small pool around her and Hawkmoth ignores the fact that he’s sitting in it. She’s more important than that now.

“Come on, Mayura. You’re going to be fine,” Hawkmoth tells her but she doesn't stop coughing.

Her abdomen hurts from coughing so much and her throat is sore but she can't stop. Tears begin to fall from her eyes. The pressure that had built with each cough forced them out. It hurts even more to cry. They thin out the blood that they mix with as it spills from her face.

She tries to say something, to give him some warning but her voice is rendered powerless before she starts to throw up bile too. It too ends up on her and the ground forming a gross brown as it mixes with the blood.

A few minutes later she was able to utter a few words to him. “I.. won’t.. make it..”

“No! No! Don't say that! You're fine! Everything is going to be okay!” Hawkmoth insists, “It’s going to get better! Don’t give up on me, please.”

Mayura seems to lose the sudden burst of strength just as quickly as it came. Her body shakes as her vision fades again. She knew it was the last time, the amount of blood she had lost far too much to heal from.

“No! Stay with me!” Hawkmoth’s voice sounds distant to her, “I need you! I can't go on without you!” he notices her vision getting cloudy, fading from looking at him to looking at something impossibly far in the distance.

She tries to reach for her miraculous. Her brain is not communicating properly to her hand, reaching blindly at her chest. Duusu drops her transformation with the realization of what their owner is trying to do.

“It’s all alright, Nath,” his voice cracks with the lie that he wants to believe.

This time she just shakes her head, unable to do much more. As her eyes close once more, they don’t reopen. Her breathing slowly dissipates, leaving nothing but a cold body in his arms.

“This isn't how it goes! You were supposed to be different!” he says, struggling with denial as tears run down his face. He wasn't supposed to lose her, she was always there with her outstanding loyalty, and now he felt like nothing without her.

It doesn't feel right without her, his universe isn't real without her, and then he realizes that is capable of rewriting the universe, he can change what has happened, and try to make everything back to the way it was. He glances at the heroes, the way they’re still unmoving,

“I’m going to fix this, Nathalie,” he promises her, “everything is going to be just the way it should be. Nothing is taking you away from me.”

He lays her down gently, trying to avoid getting her clothes covered in any more blood. His heartbreaks, looking at her so peaceful in death but he also wears a small smile, knowing that is going to bring her back.

He walks over to Ladybug first. Bending down, pushing the hair away from her face, and her earrings shine a bit as some light reflects from them. The hero whines as he reaches for the earring. She tries to move her hands to cover her ears, she tries to roll and get away from him. It isn't hard as he pins her to the ground.

“I need this, Marinette,” Hawkmoth says, taking her first earring, “I don't know what else to do.”

Marinette wants to tell him that he has another choice. She wants to say that she is willing to help them, that he can move on and be a better person. She finds herself weak, tears helplessly falling from her face as she fails Paris.
