I don’t know, someone wanted Nathalie proposing and then Adrien walking her down the aisle so I guess that’s what we're doing here even if I hate it but I mean I hate a lot of things so it’s just something to get used to

They had been dating for a few years and both were just getting older. That was a natural part of life, both of them far from immortal. Maybe Nathalie was ready before Gabriel was because she had loved him for far longer than he loved her. He had stopped trying to steal Ladybug and Chat Noir’s miraculous, accepting that his feelings had shifted from his late wife to the woman he had only known as his assistant. He had discarded his wedding band long ago, and Amélie was overjoyed when he sent it back to her and the wretched boy that had stolen the one he had worn since he first married Emilie.

It’s a simple, yet beautiful, night on the rooftops of Paris. This was one of the few times the pair still used their miraculous, as their transformed selves, it was easy to get to wherever they wanted to be. Ladybug and Chat Noir had been suspicious the first few times they had seen the couple out not doing any sort of villainous activities, but now that an akumatazation had not taken place and there hadn’t been a disastrous sentimonster in years, they were somewhat acquaintances. The pairs from different sides didn’t know each other’s identities but if they weren’t fighting each other and the once villainous duo stopped their evil activity, both Ladybug and Chat Noir didn’t pressure the butterfly nor the peahen for their identities, hoping they wouldn’t go back on their word.

Mayura has her head leaned against Hawkmoth’s shoulder. Comfort is found in their silence, both plagued by their own thoughts but fear stopping either one from opening it up about them. Hawkmoth was struggling with how to tell Adrien about everything he had done, he would forgive them, right? Hawkmoth had done this for their family, but now their whole situation changed, Adrien would have to understand, he couldn’t possibly turn in his father?

His thoughts were interrupted as Mayura coughed, the sound always struck fear in his heart, the peacock miraculous may have been fixed, considered good as new, but the worry was always there for him. Mayura was less concerned, she had only cleared her throat, and even now her health was much better than it was before, and death felt less over looming than it previously had as her health had gotten better over the years, but she would admit it wasn’t perfect and it likely never would be.

“I’m fine,” Mayura immediately assures Hawkmoth before he has the chance to ramble on a string of questions with the options being ones that would cut their evening short.

“Are you sure?” It’s not a dumb question, they both she has lied about her health time and time again. A lie such as that one could have been a reflex at this point because he wasn’t sure he had ever heard Nathalie or Mayura say they weren’t okay.

“Yes, but I did want to talk to you about something,” she tells him. She wants to express what has been on her mind but it’s something she has struggled trying to figure out to do.

“You can tell me anything,” Hawkmoth promises her.

“Well, it’s actually more of a question,” Mayura clarifies and takes a deep breath, she can do this, she pulls out a simple wedding band, “will you marry me?”

There is a moment of silence, but not necessarily hesitation, it’s shock. He blinks, there is nobody else for her to be talking to, she is proposing to him, she wants this, after everything he has done, she still loves him, more than anybody else. He knew that already, but he always feared that one day she would realize everything they had done, that the irrationality of it all would set in, and she would leave, like he thought she should have long ago. He had feared that she would go and report him to the police and tell them that he had manipulated her and threatened her if she had told the truth before.
