Hawkmoth grinned as his latest akumatized villain handed him the Ladybug and Cat miraculous. They had done it, him and Mayura. Nathalie? He didn't know, but he knew he needed her and couldn't have done it without her. In a moment of joy, he picked her and spun her around. It looked like a moment straight out of a movie. Setting her down on the ground, Hawkmoth leaned in and kissed the woman who had been by his side through it all.

“Dark wings fall,” he mumbled as their kiss broke.

“Fall my feathers,” she repeated after him.

They were close and Gabriel’s arms were still wrapped about Nathalie’s waist.

“I-” Nathalie didn't know what to say.

Part of her felt like she should apologize, but for what. She didn't kiss him, well she did, but he kissed her first. She wasn't necessarily sorry that she kissed him either. It wasn't like she regretted kissing him.

“I’m sorry,” Gabriel finally said, though his arms didn't let her go, “I was caught up in the moment.”

Nathalie held her typical cold and neutral expression through her heart cracking, “so was I. It’s okay. We have the miraculous now, you can make your wish and everything can be as it was before.”

Gabriel nodded, “can you come down there with me?”

Nathalie was a little surprised by the question but nodded, she might as well be with him to the end, she had stuck with him this long.

Only then did his arms, which had held her close being they were wrapped around her waist, leave. Nathalie didn't like it as the warmth of his touch left her body, but she knew, she never should have gotten used to it to begin with.

Standing there, Gabriel didn't know if he could make the wish anymore.

Standing there, Nathalie tried to remind herself that Gabriel would be happier like this.

Standing there, rolling the miraculous over in his hand, Gabriel couldn't even put the jewelry on.

Standing there, Nathalie looked at Gabriel confused because he looked as though he was unsure how to put on a pair of earrings.

Nathalie took a step closer to Gabriel and gently touched his hand which held the two miraculous. His gaze shifted up as he looked and Nathalie. She looked up at him and she had never seen him look so conflicted.

“Do you want me to make the wish?” Nathalie asked.

Gabriel looked at his wife's confinement and then back at Nathalie, “no,”  he decided.

Nathalie was curious, “did you forget how to put on a ring and a pair of earrings then?”

“No, I-” Gabriel was struggling. Kissing Mayura felt like the worst thing he could have done, he had been close to victory, and then he was unfaithful.

“Then I don't see the problem,” Nathalie interrupted his thoughts, “you have the perfect opportunity right in front of you. I wouldn't wait.”

Gabriel nodded, he supposed Nathalie was right, and she didn't seem hung up on the fact that they had kissed as their alter egos only moments ago.

He quickly put on the jewels and unified their kwamis. A wish, he just had to wish for his wife back and everything would be fine. It would go back to the way it was, the way it should have been.

“I wish my wife, Emilie Agreste, was alive and well,” he stated. It was a clear-cut wish that ensured that Emilie would be fine once out of her confinement.
