30 minutes later, Camilo and I are standing on the white sand of the beach, looking out at the sun as it sinks towards the horizon. He wanted one last look at the sea before we left. I slip my hand into his. "I almost lost you today, mi amado," I whisper, turning my head to look into his eyes. "I won't let it happen again." Camilo smiles softly, and I jump into his arms, wrapping my legs around his torso. His hands support me as he grins his goofy grin. My hands rest around his neck, and our foreheads meet. "I'll never leave you, princessa," He whispers. I gaze into his eyes, which are looking up at me, swimming with adoration and lust. Next moment his lips are pressed against mine, and time stands still.

The light breeze plays with my hair, and I can hear distant seagulls crying out. Our lips don't part as I drop out of his arms. His blood stained ruana lies dumped on the sand a few metres away. I clench my fist around the collar of his white camisa, and pull him closer to me. The sand is soft beneath my bare feet. Keeping his lips on mine, I slowly lower myself to the ground, lying down on the cold beach. Camilo slips a gentle hand behind my neck, and collapses onto his knees. I draw back for a breath, gazing into Camilo's eyes, his face inches from mine. His body is positioned above me, his knees by my sides, and I feel a hot flush in my face. His freckled cheeks mirror mine, and he gives me a sheepishly smile, before closing the gap again.

As the sun nears the horizon, it stains the sky with brilliant splashes of red, pink and yellow. The sound of the crashing waves seems miles away, as Camilo continues to kiss me. After a few more moments I push myself up, flipping him onto his back. He holds my waist, our lips glued together. "Eres tan hermosa, mi amor," Camilo whispers between kisses. "I love you Cami," I say. I pull my face away from his, the taste of his lips still lingering on mine. Laying my head on his chest, I let my body relax against his. "I love you too," He whispers, stroking my hair with his tender fingers. I close my eyes, inhaling his intoxicating scent. The smell is comforting, dreamy, home.

"Y/n? Camilo?" Isabella's voice floats into my conscience. Camilo sighs, craning his neck to look up towards the village. "Aye!" She exclaims, covering her eyes hastily. "Come on guys, we need to go!" She says, with an agitated tone. "Lo siento, Isa, we're coming, we're coming," I say, rolling off Camilo onto the crisp soft sand. We stand to our feet, brushing off the sand from our clothes. "Come on, if we leave now we'll be back by dawn," Isa says, leading us back to the village. "That was perfect," Camilo whispers to me as we walk, tucking my hair behind my ear and kissing my cheek. "You're perfect," I whisper back, teasingly. His cheeks turn red and I giggle softly.

By the time we reach the entrance, the sun has almost disappeared below the horizon. María waits by our two donkeys. We still have our map and bag of pesos, which is considerably lighter than when we arrived, and María has given us some warm coats and food and water for the journey. "Thank you for everything," Isabella says to her. "Come visit again, if you can," María tells us, looking between the 3 of us. "We will," I tell her, smiling warmly. "Viajes seguros (safe travels), hope to see you again." She says as Camilo helps me onto one of the donkeys and Isabella climbs onto the other. "¡Adiós María!" We call out to her as we begin to make our way along the path towards the hill. "Adios, amigos," She calls back, her voice drowned out slightly by the wind.

The light of the sunset begins to fade slowly into dusk as we make our way up the hill. Camilo has his arms wrapped around my waist, and is resting his head on my shoulder. "Amor, look!" I say, as we reach the top of the hill. Camilo sits up straight, following my gaze. "Wow..." I hear him say softly. From up here we can see the ocean. From orange yellow to flamboyant pink, the clouds are painted with changing colours as the glowing golden disk sinks below the horizon. The surface of the water reflects the fire in the sky, creating an endless expanse of red, orange and pink. I turn my neck to see Camilo's face. His eyes are wide, mesmerised. His skin glows in the dying light. I can't help but smile.

"What are you smiling at, mi cielito?" He asks, catching me looking at him as he turns back towards me. "Just my muy hermoso novio," I say, biting my lip. My words bring a flush of red to his cheeks. I lean forward to kiss his nose. "Let's keep moving," Isabella insists, and I turn back around. Camilo's arms wrap around my torso, his presence bringing me indescribable comfort. By the time we reach the first trees of the forest, the crescent moon hangs high in the sky, and millions of stars sprinkle the black sky. The looming forest is illuminated by the moonlight, and I can see the glowing haze of tiny fireflies fluttering through the leaves. "I can lead, mi vida," Camilo says, gently slipping the reins out of my hands as I yawn. "Gracias, amor," I mutter, letting my eyelids close. I relax my head against Camilo's shoulder, letting my mind rest.
