They walked upstairs to the pink room. "Well here is your room for the coming week or so" Jack opened the first door you saw when you would walk upstairs.
"Thank you" Antonio walked in and wanted to close the door but Jack didn't let him.
"Hey Antonio I help you unpack your things" Jack walked behind Antonio inside and closed the door.
"There's really no need for that, but can you maybe tell more about yourself and some of the other kids"
Jack was happy that he asked that and sat down on the bunk bed patting to the place next to him. Antonio sat down and Jack started talking.
"Well I'm Jack kelly/larkin. My official name is Francis Sullivan. Sadly. I turned 17 two months ago and I'm the oldest here and also have been here the longest."
"How long"
"Well, today it's been 11 years since I've come to this beautiful place" Jack told proudly.
"What about the other kids"
"Well there are 16 others here and with you there are now 18 people in this house" Then Jack took a good look at the boy in front of him and saw that he was wearing a glove on the hand where his quote stood.
Antonio saw him look and pulled his hand behind his back looking away.
"You really don't have to be afraid to show but I get that you want to wait for a little longer. There are some other boys here too. You're the youngest here, no wonder you want to wait for a little longer." Jack told Antonio, who gave him a small smile.
Then they heard shouting from the hallway
"Albert I swear to god if you go in there Jack is going to kill you"
"Stop shouting Finch"
"I will do what I want El and your shouting to"
"Ike I have your boyfriend on the phone"
"What about Spot"
"Albert,Ike and Mike come back here at once"
"I'm going in"
"No Al your not"
Jack saw Antonio flinch slightly at all the shout so he walked to the door. Once he opened it he saw Albert, Ike and Miks standing in front of the door, Buttons with a phone with the brooklyn boys on it, Crutchie and Elmer trying to calm other boys down, and much more chaos.
"O hey Jacky" Mike and Ike said in unison, smiling innocently.
"Can you all please stop shouting" Jack said, arms crossed.
"Sorry Jack"
"Still shouting Finch"
"Sorry"
"Can we meet Antonio" Elmer asked with the sweetest smile on his face.
Jack looked back in the room seeing that Antonio had his hands over his ears. "Maybe later for now let him be for a bit" Jack said nodding to Antonio who again just gave a small smile. J
ack walked out and closed the door behind him. He walked to his room and almost everyone followed.
"And how is he" Crutchie asked once they closed the door.
"I think he's nice but he really doesn't talk that much" Jack said the boys nodded
"I was like that too" Mush said.
"Yeah but once you met Blink that was gone real quick" Romeo commented and all the boys laughed. Mush just snuggled in Blink's chest completely red.
"This is different, he needs to say more for himself and I only know this little information from Medda but he has been in a bad home for many years."
This wasn't so shocking for the newsies. Most of them came from not the best homes.
"Everyone" Medda yelled from downstairs. "Food is ready"
Everyone ran downstairs Crutchie was even picked up in the process so he would be down quick too. Jack waited a few seconds before following.
Once he passed the room where he left Antonio he saw that the door was still closed. He knocked softly and then opened it. He saw Antonio sitting by the window looking outside.
"Hey Toni, don't you come downstairs to eat."
"No I'm not hungry, sorry"
"You don't have to apologize but you need to eat something"
"Sorry"
"Really don't apologize, you know what I bring something upstairs in a minute" Jack turned away and just before he closed the door again he heard
"scusate"
Jack knew some italian and understood that he said sorry. When Jack came back down stairs all the eyes turned to him. "Where's Antonio" Medda asked, looking behind Jack.
"He said he wasn't hungry but I think I'm just going to bring some food upstairs" Jack said and Medda nodded.
"That boy is going to change many things around here" Smalls said between the food she stuffed in her mouth.
"She is always right with those kinds of predictions so I believe her" Sniper said. The boys nod in agreement with the two girls.
"I'm going to bring this upstairs" Jack held up a plate with food on it.
"Alright but come down soon otherwise you don't get to eat" Medda laughed.
Jack smiled before returning back upstairs
