After a long day, Tohru and Kyo retired to their room for some well deserved sleep. Kazuma gave them a room for just the two of them, away from everyone else for awhile. Tohru was thankful. They were driving all day after a whole shift at work for both of them and the panic packing since they both almost forgot about their trip.
Needless to say, they were exhausted.
Tohru was ready to collapse in bed with the love of her life and sleep. She was standing in front of the mirror, fixing her hair, while Kyo got into his pajamas.
"It's nice to see everyone again. I've missed them," Tohru said taking a ribbon out of her hair. Kyo was busy taking his socks off while sitting on the bed.
"Yeah, I forgot how noisy they were," Kyo sighed thinking about all the teasing and yelling they've all done the whole night.
"Yes, it was very lively, wasn't it?" Tohru finished with her hair and headed toward the bed. She plopped down, face first and cuddled into the soft mattress. Kyo laid back on the pillows and invited Tohru into his arms. Once she was comfortable he wrapped his other arm around her. She buried her face into his chest.
"Seven months is a long time. I didn't even notice how fast it's gone by," Tohru closed her eyes and just listened to his heartbeat. Kyo stared at the ceiling.
"I'm sorry. I've taken you away from everyone," Kyo apologized. Tohru's eyes immediately opened and she sat up quickly. She took his face in her hands to make him look at her. She could see the remorse in his eyes.
"Kyo we've been over this. I wanted to go with you. You didn't take me away from anyone. I chose to go with you. And I would've rather left with you than have today be our first reunion in 7 months," Tohru explained. She kept constant eye contact with Kyo and made sure he couldn't look away. She was desperate to make it clear to him that staying by his side was the only thing she wanted in the world.
"Yeah. You're right. I'm sorry, I just know you've really missed them," He confessed. Tohru let go of his face and laid back down. They stayed there for a minute, completely silent, just enjoying each other's company.
"What did I ever do to deserve you?" Kyo asked. He wasn't expecting an answer. He wasn't even asking the question to Tohru. It was a question he'd been asking himself for the past 7 months, every time Tohru was there for him, encouraged him, or even just stayed with him. He knew there was no way he could ever entirely give back to her everything she's given him.
But he was damn sure going to try.
Kyo knew that Tohru deserved every good thing in this world and he was going to do everything in his power to give it to her. The second Yuki knocked some sense into him he knew that he was never going to let anyone or anything hurt her again.
Tohru let out a small chuckle. "Yeah, I guess I'm pretty great sometimes," She teased. Kyo laughed and Tohru could feel every vibration going through his chest.
"We're going to get to see the others tomorrow. Isuzu, Kisa, Hatsuharu, Momiji, they all should be coming after school... and Yuki. I miss him," Tohru confessed. She shamefully hasn't talked to him as much as she wanted during their time away. They did talk at least once a week but between his schoolwork and Tohru's busy schedule it wasn't how it used to be. Not like when the four of them lived in that house. Not like when she got to greet them at the door everyday.
Kyo squeezed her a bit to take her out of her thoughts."I'm sure he misses you too but we'll see him tomorrow too. He's driving over here once his classes are over," Kyo reassured her. As much as he used to hate the guy they've actually talked more than they ever thought. Yuki became a sort of wingman for Kyo. He gave Kyo advice, yelled at him when he was being stupid, and even helped him figure out Tohru's ring size.
