Jin never had a friend that stayed by his side for long. Unless you count Jimin, of course. But now? A day can't go by in which Jackson is not next to him talking nonsense and asking about his day. Turns out, it's impossible for Jin to keep any kind of secret from the other since he's too curious not to ask about every single thing. Still, Jin can't complain, it's a little tiring but entertaining.- So what are we doing now? Who are we looking for?
- Next one is Jungkook
- I know where he is! Come, I'll take you! So...why do you need him for?
- So he can do my maths homework
- Oh...I can do that! I tried it once years a go, remember?
- No.
- That's because you didn't call me back after that - He pouts - I guess it was around the time you started dating Namjoon!
- That explains it.
Once they find Jungkook, the younger refuses. He has too many things to do on is own to help Jin with math. Even though the part of getting paid for it sounds tempting.
- Hey, Yugyeomie! Maybe you can do it! Hyung will pay you!
- No, thanks. I tried before, remember?
Once more, Jin denies. Whoever helped him before Namjoon was not in his memory. His ex was like a reset for his brain. The rest didn't matter. Specially if they were just his...employees? Or whatever he can call them. Both Jackson and Jin keep walking through the day, looking for other boys and girls who can help him. They go through an old list Jin had saved from years ago. And it gets to that sad point in which he finds Namjoon's name written on it.
- Maybe he can still do it for you! You're not in good terms but who knows!
- I'll ask.
Jin walks up to him. Playing once more with his fingers. Finding the right words. What should he say so Namjoon doesn't look at him with disappointment anymore? Maybe he shouldn't even ask him about this. He stops in his tracks. Standing behind his ex, he tries to think what's the right thing to do. But he doesn't get much time when Namjoon turns around and their eyes meet.
- Jin...
- Hi.
- I...I have to talk to you, actually
- Okay.
While Jin is happy to know the boy was looking for him as well, Namjoon feels like a burden thinking Jin is not even interested in what he has to say. But he has to do it anyways. It's been making him feel guilty this last few days and he needs to let it out.
- I'm sorry about what happened last time. I crossed the limit calling you boring and a liar and I don't know what else
- That I didn't care about anyone in the slightest
Well, that he can remember perfectly. It's been replaying in his head for the last few days. And Namjoon tries his best to explain himself.
- Look I'm... I'm hurt, okay? I'm trying to deal with this and it's hard. Sometimes anger just makes me say things that are...well, wrong I guess. But that's because I have to accept this is over and it's not easy. I'm sorry I made you feel uncomfortable.
- Uncomfortable?
- Yeah... weren't you?
Jin thinks it through and realizes something. Even if it hurts him to say it, Namjoon's words made it it clear.
- We shouldn't be together
- Uh? I mean...we broke up already so...
- Yes, but I thought that was wrong.
- And...it's not?
- You never know how I feel. I wasn't uncomfortable, I was sad. Two years ago I wasn't making fun of you, I was in loved. But you don't believe me, do you? Actually, you don't really know how to understand me...but maybe someday someone else will.
Jin walks away leaving Namjoon speechless. He was sad before? He didn't look sad! And yet...his words sounded so real. Seeing him walk up to Jackson, he wonders if maybe he's been misinterpreting him somehow. He wonders if that someone he mentioned is that boy standing next to him. On the other side, Jin tries not to think too much about it, but fails. Those things he said are what he thought before meeting Namjoon. That no one would ever understand him. Until he found him. And he tried his best to show his feelings even if it was complicated. But it didn't work so maybe he wasn't the one...no matter how hurtful it is to think that.
- Hey, don't be sad!
- How do know I'm sad?
- I've been talking to you for half an hour and you aren't answering
- Oh...sorry.
- It's okay! Hey, you know what can get you in a better mood?
- What?
- A date! With me! If you want! If not we can just go as frie-
- Okay.
Jackson can't believe he said yes. In the night they go out. Jin is the one to choose the place. And since he only went out with Namjoon before, he chooses one of the places where they used to go together. It's a museum they loved, next to a park. Jackson enjoys it a lot even if he has no idea what half the paintings mean. Jin on the other side, only gets reminded of his old dates. By the end of the day, Jackson takes him back to his house.
- See you tomorrow.
- Wait! Jin...can I kiss you?
-...Yes.
It shouldn't matter so much. It's just a pair of lips. Jin shouldn't care. But he feels in the middle of the kiss that something is wrong. It just doesn't feel the way it should. Jackson is still delicate and careful but it's not...Namjoon. A tear falls and his date immediately pulls away.
- J-Jin?
- Sorry. I... I'm s-sorry
Unable to stop, he cleans his tears with his hands. His friend looks at him and soon realizes what's going on. Trying to comfort him, he slowly wraps his arms around him. Jin's face hides on his chest as he tries to stop the tears. On the other side of the street, Namjoon sees them hug and wonders if it's too late to be the one that can see through Kim Seokjin. And scared to interrupt he walks back to his house, regretting his impulse of going there.
