"Why did you do it?" Y/n asks, voice soft, her head resting on Teru's lap.
They were at the forest now, resting near the lake as sunlight courses through the thick dense foliage decorated with morning dew. The light casts speckles of yellow to appear on the ground, and from Y/n's perspective, it causes Teru's hair to shine even more. Like something out of a children's fantasy, where the protagonist meets a fairy who looked far too beautiful to be human. Maybe it's correct. Maybe Teru is a fairy. Who knows?
"Had to," the other answers. "I had to find a way to make him step down from the throne, even if it's risky. I told you I'll come back, right?"
She pouted in return. "Yeah but still, you got yourself in danger! God, if I were allowed to come down to the arena, I would've slapped your father's face."
Teru laughs, mirthful. "Please don't. Spare me from a heart attack, would you?"
Y/n hums, a smile spreading on her lips as she closes her eyes. The other absentmindedly placed flowers into her hair, coloring her h/c hair in splashes as if it were spring. "You're the king now, huh?" She peeked through one eye.
The hand in her hair stills for a second. "I'm actually going to step down soon."
"Wait -- Huh?!" Y/n sat up from where she was. "I thought your goal is to be king?"
The crown on Teru's head glinted like it was affirming her statement. Jewels that most likely were more expensive than her whole life combined were scattered across it, glowing under the sun's rays. On most days, she would've found herself checking the crown out, but today isn't most days, and there are more pressing things she needs to focus on.
"No, my goal was never to be king." The blond says earnestly. "My goal is to be with you."
And oh. Oh, dear.
There's no mistaking the red dusting her cheeks now.
"I'll stay in this position until Kou reaches adulthood, which shouldn't be too long for now." Teru continues, "And after that, I'll be passing down the crown to him. He deserves it, I know he does."
Y/n stares, e/c-colored eyes widened. "Until then has passed, what are you going to do?"
Teru huffs, stretching his back before laying down on the grass. He looked beautiful. The other answers, "I'm gonna be with you." He gives her his hand, to which she accepts and now they were both laying on the grass next to each other. "Let's run away, y/n."
She glances. "Where to?"
Teru shuffles, turning in his position so he could place a kiss on her forehead.
"To Neverland." A grin. "Where we could be together forever."
And Y/n wants it. How could she not? He was a man of her dreams, a wish come true that happened purely on accident. Y/n loves him, and he loves her back. They were two pieces of a puzzle that seemed to never will work except yes. Yes, it does work in the end. The Fates have carved a way for them, a beautiful red string weaving itself so they could meet theirs ever after.
"Yeah," she says again, a little bit louder, "Yeah. I would love to."
There's a wide smile on Teru's face, and Y/n subconsciously imitates it.
It may sound cheeky, sappy, or something unbelievable, but it did happen.
This is their fantasy, their own ending.
