After the confession happened, they had always embraced eachother. Indulging themselves in cuddles while telling stories about everything they knew.

It was a bliss being in each other's hands, knowing fully that one wouldn't leave the other. They were already too pained from the scars of the past, they found solitude in each other. Teru healed Y/n. Y/n healed Teru.

Though, a happy ending wouldn't be that easy to get.

_________

It was another normal hot afternoon. The trees were swaying lazily from left to right. Birds were chirping as usual, bringing soft melodies all around them. Everything seemed peaceful except for the loud laughter that came from a girl's mouth.

Teru and y/n were busy playing in the shallow part of the pond. Water had sprayed everywhere.

"Teru! Teru! See if you can dodge this!" Y/n's voice rang throughout the area as she splashed water to the blonde. The prince dodged it quite easily, maybe due to the training he had to withstand within the years in the castle.

But he wasn't the usual Teru. There was a solemn expression painted on his face when he met her today. He wasn't as energized as usual, as if something had taken away his cheerfulness.

Y/n had realized this, "What's wrong?" she asked.

They have stopped playing splash, and now the couple had laid on lush green grass. "Y/n.. I'm sorry." The other stood up, gaze still facing the girl.

I'm sorry?

But what could he be sorry for?

Y/n took it as a cue to also prop herself up unto a sitting position. Concern was obvious on her face, "Sorry? What for?"

Just right on time, the birds around them had tuned down their singing. A suffocating silence started to engulf them. Y/n didn't like it. She didn't like the sadness that lingered around Teru.

"I'm engaged to Princess Aoi."

One sentence had crashed into her mind. The sentence repeated itself over and over again in her ears like a broken record. This was the thing that the prince was so distressed about.
Her grip on the grass tightened. She should've known. There was no way a high-class would be able to marry a normal civillian like her, cross that, in their eyes she's most likely a peasant.

The prince sensed her sudden change in expression. He hugged her, closing all space between them. Y/n loved it, she loved it whenever the other comforted her in a way she can never to herself.

Teru dug his face unto the crook of her neck as he whispered, "I'm sorry. Ill find a way, I promise."

Y/n believed in it. She had always trusted the prince.

"I will wait."

The hug tightened. Nobody talked, the tense atmosphere from before had dissipated.

"Y/n.. One day I'll come back."
