The Officer of Justice takes Sofia to the witness stand
Officer of Justice: Under the Bill of Rights, a person who is accused of a crime cannot be forced to testify at their own criminal trial.
ONLY FOR EIGHTH GRADERS: The judge would have told the jury that the defendant has the right not to testify, that the prosecution cannot make any comment about it if the defendant doesn’t testify and the officers of justice cannot hold it against the defendant.
FOR EVERYONE: In our trial today, the defendant has decided to testify. The prosecution cannot force the defendant to testify. If the defendant chooses to testify, the prosecution is allowed to question the defendant.
Officer of Justice: (saying to Sofia) Ms. Vale, Raise your right hand. Do you promise that the testimony you shall give in the case now before this court shall be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?
Sofia: I do
Officer of Justice: Please state your first and last name.
Sofia: I, Sofia Vale
Officer of justice: You may be seated.
The Prosecuting Attorney was stand straight and walk in front of mina.
Prosecuting Attorney : Ms. Sofia, sinasabi mo ba nung mga oras na nangyari ang Krimen ay wala ka sa Residence?"
Sofia: Yes, pinadala ako ng aking ama sa isang misyon.
Prosecuting Attorney: Ms.Sofia, Sinasabi mo na nasa isang misyon ka nung nanyari ang krimen, tama ba?
Sofia: Yes, I do
Prosecuting Attorney: kung ganun. Your Honor, nag sisinungaling ang sinasakdal. May ebedensiya kaming hawak na nasa Receiving hall siya nung mga araw na yun.
Lumapit ang Prosecuting Attorney sa pwesto ng kanyang ina at ni mina. Mula sa lamesa kinuha ng lawyer ang laptop at binigay sa Judge.
May kung anong pinindot siya dun at isang video ang nag play.
Isang babaeng naka overall black suit ang nagbato ng kutsilyo. Pagkatapos ay pumasok ito. Sa paghakbang nito bigla itong lumingon sa camera..
Nagulat naman si sofia nang makita niya ang kanyang mukha sa screen ng laptop
'N-no way!'
"Hin.di.. Hindi ako yan!" natatarantang sigaw ni Sofia.
Tumigin siya sa kanyang ina na si Eria at nagbabakasakali na sasabihin nito na hindi siya ang nasa screen.
Ngunit sa halip na tulong, mga masasakit na salita ang natanggap ni Sofia mula sa kanyang ina.
Eria: "Sofia! Mula ngaun itinatakwil na kita bilang aking anak! You're such a disgrace in our family! Kung alam ko lang na balang araw ikaw ang papatay kay Zian. Hindi na sana kita binuhay pa! I sure you Sofia! Magbabayad ka!"
Judge: Silence.. Silence.. Ordered of the court
