Mai: I can't wait for the new book!

Naru: what is the book even about?

Me: that is for me to know and you too find out!

Mai: awwwwww. You are being mean!

John: now Mai. Don't jump to conclusions. There could be a reason.

Mai:😤 whatever. Hui-Ying doesn't own ghost hunt.

Mai's POV

It had been two days since I have had a power release. Now I have more control over my new powers. But, I still have to learn about how much power I'm supposed to use for certain jobs. Sighing I stood from my spot on the ground. I was in a room underground that I could practice my powers in.

It had cement walls, an iron ceiling, and a floor made entirely out of some of my powers. It was pretty difficult making a floor like that, but when you can you just need to think about what you want and it will mold what you wanted. I had just calmed down and was thinking of a truck, it then appeared and I focused on it and let the tiniest bit of my powers go and picked up the truck.

When I held it there for a while I was satisfied and gently put it back on the ground. I then smiled and left. Tomorrow I am going to have to do a bigger and heavier object. I walked up the stairs and to my study. I grabbed a random book about physic powers and sat on my favorite chair. Yet, right when I did Hui-Ying came bursting through the door.

I looked up to her and raised an eyebrow. The girl looked as if she ran a marathon! Sighing I asked, "What happened now?" She calmed down and replied, "We are going to have a new case. And it's about you." Frowning I nodded my head and closed my book. Pushing myself up I motioned for her to follow me and we left the house. Right when we reached the SPR building there was a man walking in to it.

I mumbled just in time and we walked in. Walking in we saw the man standing in the middle of the room. Me and Hui-Ying both sighed and I walked to Naru's office and knocked on the door informing him that he had a client waiting for him. Then I walked back into the room and found the man this time sitting on the chair, and Hui-Ying on the other side. They were just talking about random stuff so I went to the kitchen and made tea. When it was done I walked out of the kitchen and gave Hui-Ying, Naru, the client, and Lin a cup.

I then sat next to Naru and the questions began. (I'm just going to summarize!) The man's name is Jian, and every month on the 10th the lights will go out and a voice would say 'where is she. My little girl. Come to me. Stay with me.' Then when the lights go back on there is writing in blood saying, 'I now you're there. Why did you leave, Meiyui?' Naru looked at me when he heard that. Lin, and Hui-Ying also looked at me. In the end we took the case.

When the man left Naru turned to me and asked, "Do you know who the ghost is?" I nodded my head yes and answered the question he was just about to ask, "It is my mother. The one parent who loved me. But, the first to leave me. I didn't even know if she had died. Let alone remember me." Hui-Ying frowned and said, "If she didn't die how did she leave you?"

I glared at the ground and replied, "She cheated on my father and left. She did try to take me with but her stupid 'boyfriend' didn't want me. He said I was a pest." With that I walked out the door and went home. I hated talking about my mother."

Hui-Ying's POV

I sighed. Why did she never tell me that? I had thought we trusted each other? Grumbling I apologize for Mai's behavior and followed her.
