        ╔═══════════════════════╗

It  was the first day back to school and Wirt dreaded it,  this summer was  the summer he finally confessed to Sara. He spilled his heart out on the  pavement and torn himself into two. And for what?

He  planned it all but to no avail he was rejected. Don't get him wrong  it's not like Sara was mean about it or anything, quite the opposite  actually she just said

"she wasn't ready to be in a relationship and that she's still figuring herself out" the boy quoted her words in his head. His mind becoming an echo chamber of sorrow as her voice rang in his brain like a haunting melody.

It  was probably the most sympathetic rejection he could have received, but  he couldn't help but feel embarrassed, ashamed even, all those days of  emotional turmoil, his hand writing about her as if he was running out  of time,  those moments when he felt like his heart would explode out of  his chest. All of that replaced with the feeling of sorrow and deep  insecurity.

After  about two years till that summer holding onto those feelings just for  them to be shot down a week or two before starting school again. How  pathetic.

Wirt was  now heading to school on his first day, his depressing  and sad thoughts  interrupted by the cheerful voice of his half-sibling "bye, wirt!  see you later!" Gregory called as he entered the building of his  elementary school a hop skip and a step and away he went merely. The  same could not be said for Wirt. His feet felt heavy as is if there were two large cast-iron rude to his calves as his shoes scraped a long the pavement.

Back  to his senses he trudged into the direction of his high school, he  turned the corner and another, and there it was. the school itself was  rather intimidating. very large for it had the middle school building,  the high school building, and the grassy football field all clumpt  together into one giant mega campus with maybe a few tress and patches  of grass to add pops of color.

As  he entered he was greeted by a massive crowd of teenagers, of all ages  and size's going off to their classes, off to start the day rushing  about laughing and cheering as they reunited with their friends and  recounted their shared fond memories of the summer. Their cheerfulness  only soiling his mood further as he sighed in contempt. Wishing that perhaps he could join in on their Merriment.

He  was now in his first class of the day glancing around the room staring  at some of the familiar faces of his classmates as they all chattered  and mingled with one another. All together ringing like a the chiming of multiple bells.

Of  course, he recognized a few, Jason funderberker, Rodney, Marcy, and a  couple of others who were all in his middle school class the year before  ( now high school class ).

His gaze then landed on a girl o row or two in front of him, and for some reason, he couldn't help but wonder why she looked...
looked so familiar, the hair, the way she dressed.. she definitely wasn't here at the school last year not that he could recall atletas.

Then  why was she so familiar?they caught each other in their gaze for only a  moment before her attention was whisked away by anther claim thrown her  way from the growing crowd around her

Before  his thoughts could go any further, they were interrupted by a voice   "(y/n)...?"  It's was Jason funderberker and he was talking to the said  (h/c) female who was then surrounded by the  small crowd now greeting  her and welcoming her back.

Of course!  How could he have not noticed, that's why she looked so familiar!  (y/n) was a girl who changed schools a year back.

Nostalgia  hit the boy like a riptide, memories of (y/n) all warm and fuzzy, he  remembered how her older brother used to babysit them when they were  much smaller. being in the same creative writing class and sharing each  other's poems.

Going  to those music classes where he learned how to play the clarinet and how  she had learned to play the piano. His thoughts jumbled all together in  a mesh of memories and colors like some misshapen tapestry of multiple  cloths of mismatched patterns.

Sure  over the course of last year, they had drifted apart but he couldn't  help but think back on those days when things were much easier and more  fun.

He couldn't help  but stare at the girl with hope,  as he felt his spirits  rising  and  he started to get a warm  feeling in his chest as his heart rate started  to accelerate-"No!"

In  an instant, he shunned the feeling, as his leg anxiously bounced from  beneath his desk and grumbled to himself as he got a pit in his stomach    "you've already been through this before and look where that got you" the boy reminded himself sternly. It had been over year and they had never spoken since, it would be too embarrassing to reach out now.

With  a disappointed sigh he gazed back at the (h/c)-ete longingly, he then  decided to push those feelings of nostalgia and hope aside. all hope of  reuniting with an old friend shot down like hunted down bird mid flight  as it crashed into the ground he decide it would be best to  not get hurt again and perhaps ignore said girl "maybe it's for the best" He thought to himself.

If he ignored her, if he adapted a passive attitude and ignored the feeling over time it will just go away

Right...?

I  honestly don't know where I'm going with this and my writing style may  be a bit jumbled and clunky in some areas, but nevertheless  I hope you  enjoyed - rems
