Broken

As soon as the bell rings, I rush out of the classroom in hopes of escaping his searching gaze as he tries to understand why I'm doing what I'm doing.
I'm yanked back abruptly by my wrist and turned to face him. No such luck, I guess.
"What the hell, y/n??" He searches my eyes for any type of emotion. I only give him a bored expression, hoping he'll just drop it.
"No," he shakes his head, "I demand to know what the hell is going on. Yesterday was good, wasn't it? I thought we were good."
"It's not up for discussion, Chase."
"No. You want to break up with me, you have to say the words. I'm not taking this one-sided bullshit."
"Let go of me," I try to yank my wrist out of his grasp, but his hold tightens, digging into my skin.
"You can't even say the words," he laughs bitterly. "You can't say the words because you don't want this. You don't want this and if you say the words I'll know you're lying."
"You don't know what I want." I try to yank my arm back again, but he doesn't let go.
"Don't make me have to send you to the principal's office, Mr. Hudson." A voice says from behind Chase, and I look up to see the vice principal.
Out of anger, Chase flings my hand back at me and stalks off, stopping only to punch a locker on his way.
"That just earned you detention for the rest of the week," the vice principal says as she eyes the fist sized dent in the blue metal.
I turn back to face her with a sad smile, "thanks."
She nods her head in acknowledgment, "if he continues to bother you, please let me know. I can always change his schedule so your paths never cross."
I nod my thanks, "hopefully it doesn't come to that."
