This update is going to be from Chase's POV!
She whispers, "I have to go," and quickly hangs up the phone before I have a chance to respond.
I sigh, rubbing the tears away as I eavesdrop on her conversation.
"You have to work a double?" She asks.
It's impossible to hear who's one the other end, but context tells me it's her parents. They wanted her to break up with me so they could have more time together, and now that she has, they have to work.
I still don't understand why she broke up with me, things were going good. Better than good. Or so I thought.
I hear her dialing a phone number and I stare at my phone expectantly, willing it to ring with her name in the caller id.
My ears perk up as I hear her say, "hey. Can you come pick me up?"
So... she wasn't calling me back. I should've known. She'd been ignoring me since after home room, even when I spent every period trying to get her attention. There's no reason she'd call me now.
I look out my window and into her room to see her slowly nod to whatever the person on the line was saying.
"Okay, see you then." She hangs up the phone and rubs her hand over her face as she sighs frustratedly.
She paces her room a few times before finally heading out the bedroom door, and I can't see her anymore.
I just really wish she'd explain what happened, what changed, and why she's doing this to me. I really thought we were made for each other, now I have to go back to drinking her blood from a jar, like it's tour all over again.
