James was on his way home after the game that evening when his radio in his bag was going off like crazy, all three boys' voices coming through it, overlapping in panic, sadness running through their tones. James immediately turned around, grabbing his bike and cycling as fast as he could to the river where the boys said they were.
James made it there just in time to see Mike cycling away in anger, him not noticing the older boy as he made his way to Lucas, Dustin and Eleven. James looked around, taking note of the amount of police cars and the boy on the stretcher, clearly dead a few feet away.
James froze.
"James!" Dustin's voice snapped him out of his daze as he made his way over to the group, bringing the two boys into a hug. James looked over to Eleven, who had a saddened look on her face as she stare in the direction Mike left in.
"Are you all okay?" James asked.
"He's gone." Was all Lucas whispered.

Avery was in the car with her dad, when his radio went off, telling him they found a body in the river. Theo was simply picking his daughter up from the game, the two heading home for dinner and television with Lorelai like they did most nights. Avery had just had the time of her life at the football game, her and Robin making fun of not only the game but other people in the crowd, and yet a simple sentence could ruin her fantastic evening.
Avery felt her blood run cold as she listened to the radio, her father turning in the opposite direction and racing to the river.
The two Monroe's got out of the car when they arrived, Theo walking over to Hopper and Avery staring at the water, tears building up in her eyes. She looked around, wiping the tears from her eyes when she noticed a group of boys behind one of the ambulances. Avery started to walk over to the group, glad that they were all safe.
"Lucas." She called, the boy spinning around, a sigh of relief leaving his lips as he wrapped his arms around her middle.
