Summer. Avery Monroe's favourite time of the year. It was the time of the year where she could do whatever she wanted, stay out for as long as she want, worry free. The time of the year where she didn't have to stress about homework or getting up early. She loved summer, and she was ready to have the summer of her life.

After everything she had been through over the last year, she was exhausted, and honestly she needed this break. And her break started of right, a holiday in Majorca with her family. She left a week after summer break started, spending nearly a month in Spain, sunning herself, reading and simply having a good time. She spent the days swimming and tanning, and the evenings getting ready with her mum before they ate out at whatever fancy restaurant they could find. It was perfect, the only thing that would've made it better would have been if her friends were there too.

James Parker, however, had spent his entire summer so far, working in Lorelai's diner. He, with the help of Avery, had managed to convince Lorelai to give him a job, leaving him under the supervision of Daisy and their cook / manager Sam, while they were away. It meant that his days were filled, leaving him with something to do while Steve worked in Scoops Ahoy with Robin.

James and Avery spoke almost everyday, the two having finally given into their feelings. It was graduation when he asked her. Avery had attended with Robin and her family, the three in the crowd cheering as loud of they could as Avery walked across the stage. She had laughed, clapping when Steve and James also crossed the stage and were handed their diplomas.

It felt weird to not be in high school but Avery was ready for whatever life had in store for her and her friends. Avery had also been valedictorian, her having to give a speech about their time at Hawkins High. She didn't really know what to say considering that she was surprised that she had become valedictorian with all the school she'd missed fighting the supernatural and all.

However, Avery had made a lovely speech. One that spoke about friendships and achievements and ignoring all bad things that had happened. It had humour and cheers and at the end everyone threw their caps into the air with smiles on their faces. Avery had left the stage, jumping right into the arms of James, who spun her around. She had then hugged Steve, Robin and her parents, both of which were practically crying.
