❝ but i swear you find the best things when you're not looking for them ❞
Ares was in the middle of showing them his collection of memes when his phone suddenly rang out of the blue. The number had no Caller ID which Adonis could tell put him on edge. As he stood his face turned icy, all playfulness gone.
"Yes?", he answered confidently although Adonis could see the nervousness lurking behind his eyes. Seconds later, he was bursting through the diner's doors, face worried, smile downcast. The boys stood confused and met him outside where he was tugging on his dark locks.
"He-y, It's Ember. I was with Thea when this boy walked up to her and grabbed her by the waist", the girl choked on her tears before continuing, " He didn't stop after she asked him to and I think she's having a panic attack. I don't know what to do so she said to call an Ares".
"Where are you guys?", he asked his voice cracking. Ares could tell something terrible had happened from the crying that was heard on the other line.
"Lay her down on her and talk to her about happy things. Play some music if you can. Thanks, Ember", Ares replied, slipping his phone back into his pocket.
Ares's eyes widened once he discovered they were standing behind him the entire time. But he had more important things to worry about. "I need to go back to school", he asked staring at Asher.
Asher nodded twirling his car keys around his finger. They decided to take Asher's car as it had the most seats. Leon's Mustang and Addy's Audi were too small. Walking past him Adonis plucked his car keys out of his hands. "I'll drive".
"Bitch, you never let me drive your car", Asher complained, grumbling as he went to go sit in the passenger seat.
"You never ask", Adonis responded, starting the car. As he made his way, back to school he couldn't stop his need to know whether she was okay. Ares dragged his hands across his face down his face and Adonis could see how exhausted he was.
"Is she okay?", Adonis asked briefly taking his eyes off the road.
"I hope so".
Asher turned his head over, softly patting Ares's knee. "She's going to be okay". Ares sent him a grateful smile, leaning his head against the glass window.
Leon on the other hand was too busy staring at Asher's hand on Ares's knee. He thought he had made it pretty clear his feelings for him. He knew Asher was bisexual so he thought he would acknowledge him but Asher didn't. Leon shook his head. Of course, Asher wouldn't be attracted him. He didn't have pearly whites, or blue eyes like Ares did.
Letting the lone tear drip down his face, he pressed his head back against the glass wishing he was good enough.

Adonis barely parked before Ares opened the car door, racing to the security gates. The boys followed after him scanning their key cards so they could enter the school. Looking around Adonis couldn't see Leon but later found him lagging behind eyes downcast.
Jogging back to up Leon, he put his arm around his shoulders. "Hey, what's wrong?", Adonis asked, noticing the tears trailing down his face. Leon stayed silent opting to slip out of his hold.
Adonis frowned but stepped back giving him the space he wanted. "I'll be here when you want to talk".
The pair walked silently across the campus before Leon blurted out, "He doesn't like me", he spluttered before sobs racked through his body.
Adonis frowned. "Of course he does. You're funny, good-looking and smart. He'd be stupid not to like you", he comforted his friend hugging his small frame to his body. Adonis knew Leon was severely insecure of himself after his ex had manipulated him, but he hid it behind his constant laidback mask.
