Shinobu's eyes opened as her alarm woke her up with a harsh sound. She jumped out of her bed to stop her alarm before going to the bathroom to freshen up
She slowly went outside since she was still sleepy. She wasn't used to waking up early anymore after summer break
She walked downstairs as she heard sizzling from upstairs. She walked to the kitchen to see Kanae cooking their breakfast
"Good morning, Shinobu" Kanae said as she transferred the contents of the pan to the plate before they went to the dining table
"Where's Kanao?" Shinobu asked "Oh Kanao doesn't have class yet. Still next week" Kanae said, making Shinobu jealous of her sister
"I can't believe you're in Grade 11 now. It felt like last year you were in Grade 9" Kanae joked with a smile while Shinobu looked displeased
"But really, that'll be fun right?" Shinobu nodded "Yup and it won't even be hard to get friends since most of my friends are there too" Shinobu said with a pleased smile
"I remember my Grade 11, I met Sanemi. Maybe you'll also meet your love" Shinobu shook her head making Kanae look at her with a disappointed face
"Why are you so firm on not loving anybody? Not like anybody hurt you" Kanae asked and Shinobu shrugged before bringing her dishes to the sink

"Can you drop me off here?" Kanae looked at her in confusion before stopping to the sidewalk "You too embarrassed for me to drop you off now?" Shinobu deadpanned at her
"Yes, because valedictorian and tennis champion Kanae dropping me off would be such a tragedy" She said sarcasticly making Kanae laugh
"I'm meeting with Mitsuri by the way" She said after exiting the car "Alright, good luck for your first day!" Kanae said, driving off
Shinobu pulled her phone out to call Mitsuri. After a few seconds of ringing she picked up
"You called me at an awkward spot, Shinobu, to be honest" Mitsuri said, audibly struggling "Why? You carrying ten things at once again?" Shinobu said jokingly, knowing it was partly true
"Four, mind you, but I'm fine now I sat down on a bench" Mitsuri said "Alright.. so you gonna tell me where this bench is or..?" Shinobu asked
"Oh right.." Mitsuri chuckled while Shinobu facepalmed "I'm at the bench just in front of the coffee shop you love" Mitsuri said making Shinobu briskly walk to the direction of that coffee shop
"Alright see you!" Mitsuri said before hanging up. Shinobu sighed in exhaustion "I should've slept earlier" She said with a groan before seeing Mitsuri
They lock eyes before Mitsuri stood up and rushed to Shinobu. She smiled before preparing to get tackled by the running Mitsuri
Mitsuri rushed for the hug, indirectly tackling Shinobu making her groan.
"We met yesterday, why?!" Shinobu complained making Mitsuri chuckle "Sorry that I missed my best friend" Shinobu deadpanned
"We called last night, Mitsuri, you can't be this clingy" Shinobu joked "You can't be surprised by now though, you know I'm like this" Mitsuri points out
"Anyways, why'd you tell me to meet with you?" Shinobu asked before Mitsuri went back to the bench. Shinobu promptly followed her
Mitsuri pointed to the full tote bag with a smile. Shinobu had a look of confusion
"So..?" Shinobu asked "It's a bag full of gifts for everyone in class!" Mitsuri said excited. Shinobu looked more confused
"First and foremost, why? Second, you have the money to do that?" Shinobu asked, kinda judging Mitsuri "I'm just trying to be a good person, Shinobu. Plus they're all my friends" Mitsuri explained
"It's a full classroom, is that even enough?" Mitsuri deadpanned at her "You do know there are only seven people in the class, right?" Shinobu looked surprised with the information
"But that's so little!" Shinobu pointed out "We're in honors class, of course there isn't thirty people in the class" Mitsuri said while Shinobu kept her face of disbelief
"I mean I don't mind, just startled a bit" Shinobu explained before peeping at the bag "So... which one's mine" Mitsuri laughed
"I'll give it out later, silly. You can't be first!" Mitsuri said sternly. Shinobu looked disappointed "You want a sandwich though?" Shinobu smiled at the opportunity
"Yes please!" Shinobu said before grabbing the sandwich from Mitsuri's hand "Now take the bag, please" Shinobu nodded before they started walking to school
"So who exactly are our classmates?" Shinobu asked, finishing her sandwich "There's Rengoku, Muichiro, Iguro, Uzui, and Giyu" Shinobu nodded
"Only have to befriend one, that sounds easy" Mitsuri looked confused at Shinobu's statement "Who don't you know?" Mitsuri asked
"The Giyu guy" Shinobu had a look of disbelief "Wait what?!" Shinobu got startled at the volume of Mitsuri's voice
"You guys haven't met yet?" Shinobu shook her head "I don't think so... Should I know him?" Shinobu asked
"Probably... I definitely thought I've introduced him to you" Mitsuri said
"Oh... now I remember. I don't think I'm very fond of him" Shinobu said, trying to recall her memories of Giyu
"Anyways, befriending him won't be easy" Mitsuri said, Shinobu scoffed "Really Mitsuri? You don't think I can?" Shinobu asked and she nodded
"Giyu's different than everyone, he's cold, silent, you'll be lucky to see him speak a sentence with more than three words" Mitsuri explained, half joking
Shinobu had a firm look of determination as she felt challenged by Mitsuri. Her competitive drive was being fueled
