Amy woke up to her loud and annoying alarm, then immediately got up and turned it off. Yes, she loved to just relax especially after such a long day, but this one also had a lot in store for her. Going back to sleep only took the fun out of her day and she didn't want that, besides it was Friday, so just a little longer till she can have a break.
The teenage girl went to the bathroom to do her morning routine, walking out more refreshed. Her curly hair wasn't the easiest to brush so it always took her the longest, sometimes even her mom had to help her out because of the repeatedly failed attempts at detangling it.
After walking into the kitchen she was met with a tired-looking woman, who after noticing her gave her a bright smile just like her own.
"Good morning sweetie, how did your day go at school yesterday?"
Amy returned the gesture as she placed her bag on one of the chairs and sat on another one next to it.
"It went pretty well, just like the usual. We didn't get much homework though which was pretty nice!"
"I see, that's good. I'm glad you could have less of all that work, I always used to be so demotivated after seeing how much the teachers gave us, it was a nightmare."
They both laughed at the mentioned memory.
"I made an omelet, go ahead and get some while it's still warm," she said before continuing to eat her portion.
Amy got up and proceeded to do as she was told.
As she was about to go take the meal she noticed her lunch box laying neatly on the counter. The girl frowned looking at it before facing her mom again.
"Mom, I told you I can take care of my school lunch, you don't have to wake up earlier to make it, you already make breakfast and that's enough. I can take care of myself so please at least get some more rest."
"But you already do everything by yourself, I want to do something too," she argued.
"Still, you go to work and stay till late, so it's enough. You deserve to have some time once you're back instead of doing other things at home..."
"Amy, please at least let me do breakfast and your school lunch, I'm your mother for God's sake."
Now she genuinely looked conflicted. Amy knew she was doing too much compared to others her age, but she just wanted to help...
The teen sighed as she spoke up "Okay, you can make my school lunch...but just know that you don't have to, I can take care of it just fine."
Her mom smiled and once again went back to eating, satisfied with the answer. Amy grabbed a serving and sat back at the table to eat her breakfast, mumbling about how stubborn her mom was and how she should have rejected the offer.
After a few more minutes of them eating and chatting, her mom put the plate into the sink and packed the lunch box and a water bottle into Amy's backpack.
Amy quickly followed up and washed both of their plates, now being the one to listen to the dissatisfied mumbling instead.
They were both very similar. Acted almost the same, and even looked alike, the only difference being their hair. Amy had curly auburn hair and her mom had chocolate brown hair, which was completely straight unlike her daughter's.
The teen grabbed her bag and before going out hugged her mom, then proceeded to put the shoes on.
"Bye mom, good luck at work, and thank you for the breakfast."
"No problem sweetie, have fun at school!"
The teen waved to her parent with a smile before closing the door and heading off.
The mornings were colder and much more durable, and the evenings were also cooler, although they were spookier. But even so, it was a lot less crowded than in the middle of the day, so she preferred these times.
It wasn't that long before Amy reached her school and remembered about once again forgetting her phone. She went to her first class early as always, then proceeded to sit at the back of the classroom.
It turns out that after all she didn't forget her phone, it was in her back pocket since the beginning.
'Silly me...' she laughed dryly.
'This is ridiculous, how can anyone be so forgetful, and even if, why is it me out of all people?'
She frowned crossing her arms and slumping in her chair, the phone now laying on the desk before her. Amy had a full quarter before the first lesson began, so she had a lot of time to be moody like this.
After sitting like that for a while a certain person slipped into her mind. She promised to go back, and she definitely will. This time she'll make sure to save some of her lunch for her new friend.
'I wonder if they'll be there though, or if I'll be too late, or too early...'
She shook her head 'No no no, bad thoughts go away! It'll be all fine...right?'
It was all such a weird situation, it seemed like a dream that started as a nightmare. She was so terrified but then seeing these calm gray eyes felt so comforting. No matter how intriguing and special they seemed, it was as if they were clouded, with so much hidden behind the fog.
Amy wanted to see what's behind that curtain of clouds. She wanted to learn what they were like and what they are like, she wanted to know who they are, to acknowledge the situation, to make it all better. She wants to see what's hidden behind these dull, lifeless orbs.
Suddenly her thoughts were interrupted by the doors opening. In walked the science teacher, he was always five minutes early if not more. There wasn't anything else that made the adult stand out besides his curly gray hair.
The teen straightened her posture and greeted the teacher, getting a good morning in return. She smiled to herself as she started to take her school supplies out, while more people walked into the classroom.
Not too long after, the lesson began, officially marking the day started.
