"Are you okay..?" asked Ghosty, completely ignoring the girl's flushed face and frown assuming it's because of the breakdown.

Amy blinked repeatedly and shook her head to try and compose herself. But for her friend it gave the opposite answer as they took her hands into theirs which made the girl blush even harder than before, completely stilling her movements.

"Amy?"

"Y-yes?"

"How can I make you stop feeling sad?"

At that, the girl calmed down, only a light blush tinting her cheeks. She was confused but also flattered by the other's statement.

"Huh? What do you mean..?"

Ghosty remained quiet at that, which only made the girl even more confused.

"I...I think that being able to spend time with you is enough, but I really appreciate it," she said and smiled warmly at the other.

Her friend nodded and sat back up straight, letting go of Amy's hands in the process. The girl did the same as a comfortable silence fell over them.

Ghosty started rethinking the scene that just played out, making sure to remember every detail of it. Memories were very important for the both of them, so not being able to remember something more specific from their lives made them feel conflicted.

At one point Ghosty started forgetting everything as if some parts were wiped from their memory. Before it hasn't been bothering them, but now they are quite conflicted about it. If the memories of these times were a part of who they are now, they wanted to know what was happening at these specific times.

For Amy, it was a different case. She mostly hated forgetting about things important to other people, something that they've shared, or things that she reminded herself of. Every time that happened she became anxious and stressed out. A few times before she experienced panic attacks when another person was involved in it. It was just too much, and having others point it out made it even harder to try to calm down which led to self-blame and disorientation.

The two of them shared a lot, but neither knew any of it. Surely with time, they were going to find out about these things, but for now, they had to take it slow.

"Why do you always cover your face?"

Ghosty looked at Amy a bit conflicted. Was there even a reason?

"I don't know, I just never bothered with it..."

At that, the girl looked at them with thought before brightening up once again with a new idea.

"Could I do your hair?!" she exclaimed in excitement.

Ghosty hesitantly nodded and the girl immediately took action, positioning herself behind the other. She took a hairbrush out of her bag and proceeded to brush Ghosty's hair. It was quite hard to do it so she did it very carefully so as to not cause any pain to the other.

After a while of just brushing the hair, Amy started another conversation with the other.

'It's going to last quite long, so I better use up this time to talk with them as well..!'

Ghosty found themself enjoying the feeling of Amy playing with their hair. She was being very gentle with the way she brushed through the hair, or when her hand caressed their scalp to divide it into sections. Even if from time to time Ghosty found themself being pulled by a part of the hair, every time the gesture was followed with an apologetic 'sorry'. They also had from time to time answered if it hurt or not, since the girl was trying really hard to make it completely painless.

All that time Ghosty felt that fuzzy feeling as if a warm, soft-to-touch blanket was draped over them.

In the middle of the process, Amy remembered the other half of her lunch that she saved for Ghosty and decided to give it to them. They were still skeptical about it and first took a long while inspecting the food, before finally biting into the sandwich. This time, they were even more surprised by the taste and texture. It felt so good that they decided to take the smallest bites possible to savor the experience.

It was already getting darker as the sun was beginning to retrieve from the sky. Amy just now finished brushing through Ghosty's hair, which was no longer tangled up. Now, the hair was more smooth and longer than before making the girl both proud and dissatisfied.

'That's definitely going to get tangled up again,' she thought while examining the long dark hair.

After a while of not feeling the other's hands on their hair or the head, Ghosty turned around to face Amy, who instantly met their eyes that had the hair from before swiped to the sides. The teen smiled warmly at her friend, she could finally see their face clearly after always seeing the dark curtain draped over it.

Just like she imagined, their face was pale and bony like the rest of their body, but she didn't mind that, she knew it would take time until the other looked more healthy. But as always, her attention was being taken by the mesmerizing gray eyes that were still cloudy as ever. Yet, they held so much behind the surface, she just knew that there was so much more to them then just this. There just was something that pulled her in.

Amy's smile widened as she chuckled.

"I can finally see your face now, Ghosty!"

The girl was looking at Ghosty with such warm, loving eyes that they couldn't help the warm feeling shaking them up again.

"Yeah..."

Amy quickly glanced at the sky realizing that she's passed her limit of time. She quickly apologized to Ghosty before ruffling their hair and running off into the dark forest.

Ghosty was left patting their head after watching the girl leave to imitate the feeling from before. But even so, it felt nothing like the soft, smaller hands of the other caressing their scalp, nor the ruffling of hair. Ghosty curled hugging their knees as close as possible.

'Just what is this feeling?'
