"And that's all kids! It's just a tale that has been told around for decades now. It might not be true, but it is one of the most popular stories that caught people's interest for its originality and all the different theories. No one knows exactly for how long it has been passed, but it is said it has been told since the day she disappeared." The students started whispering among themselves as the teacher went back to checking their tests.
"Do you believe in that story? It's probably been made up by some dude high on drugs" one of the boys snickered to his friend.
"I don't know, it could be anything," answered the taller male.
"Don't tell me you actually believe in that bullshit, Alan? Really?"
"I'm not saying I believe in it, Jacob. Did you not listen to me or something? Because if so, you need to get your ears checked, there must be something wrong with you" said Alan returning the same energy. Both boys started glaring at each other, gaining attention from a few others.
"It is true though!" another person chimed in.
"It's not, you dumbass," snarled Jacob. "If you wanna live in your fantasy world do it somewhere else loser! That's just a story for kids" he argued.
Suddenly the auburn-headed teen stood up and slammed her hands on his desk.
"It is! And I'll prove it to you for sure!" She stared at him with determination and hurt.
Jacob stared at her in shock, which immediately turned into annoyance. Just as he was getting up to yell back, the teacher interrupted them.
"Quiet down! It seems that giving you free time was a mistake, so we're continuing our lesson." The teenagers started apologizing in the hope of making up for their classmate's behavior, while some just sighed utterly giving up on the free time they were given. "Everyone, back to your seats. Now!"
Everyone sat back at their desks and the lesson began. However, Amy laid her head on the desk and sat quietly at the back of the classroom. Luckily the teacher left the devastated girl alone seeing the state she was in, only shaking their head in disapproval.
Alan kept glancing at the teen from time to time, wondering if his classmate was alright. Even if she has been like this before, it seemed different than the usual sulking. Amy would usually get back up halfway through the lesson and smile again, probably thinking of the tale as per usual, but she spent the whole hour with her head on the desk.
When the bell rang she got out of her seat and started packing her school supplies from the desk right into her navy blue backpack. Alan wanted to check up on the girl, but then realizing what he was about to do, he decided to leave her behind, joining his other classmates. Who even is he to care for others now? Hanging out with people is just a waste of time, after all, everyone is the same.

School finally ended for the day, and people who stayed there went to different classrooms or the gym for club activities. The rest went home or possibly to hang out with friends, but who knows? Everyone has their own lives.
Amy decided to wander off somewhere quiet and peaceful where she would be able to think clearly. Her emotions were running high, and she was not ready to go back home or to be near any people. She needed to calm down and uncloud her mind.
The troubled teen took the dirt path from behind the school that led into a forest. It was around 20 minutes away from the building when traveling by foot, and this path only specifically led there, so she was all alone.
When Amy finally saw the forest she picked up her pace, recklessly running into the maze. Everything that happened at school today started playing on repeat in front of her eyes. All of the events which upset her and made her frustrated resurfaced once again adding to the agony.
Amy could hear the people that kept appearing before her vision laughing and yelling at her again, she was disoriented and had no idea how to make it stop. Everything was blurry and the only thing she could do was just run to try and leave everything behind as the familiar silhouettes kept pointing at her while she rushed ahead.
Tears began to stream down the girl's face as she dashed deeper into the forest, not even looking around. It became too much for her to handle and she could only see the nightmare playing before her very own eyes. All of it seemed so real and fake at once, it was all so disconcerting.
'Why does everyone have to be so annoyed by everything that I enjoy? Why am I like this when it has happened so many times before? How is it different from all of the other times when they laughed at me, pushed me around just so they can feel better about themselves and have fun?'
The laughs got louder and the screams more aggressive, but she still didn't want to consider the option of her breaking. Such a thing has been going on for so long, she should be used to it already, right?
'Just what made it so much worse than it already was? What did I do wrong this time for it to be like this?'
All of a sudden she tripped over a branch, which led to shattering everything that was previously happening into reality once again. All of the noise faded into unsettling silence and the image before her eyes broke up into pieces, leaving her completely disorientated.
'Where am I?' she thought. She has never been to this part of the forest, it looks like she ran too far into it. But one thing was sure, she did not recognize this place at all.
Amy looked at the scenery before her eyes, still laying on the damp ground.
'Is it even worth getting up anymore?'
The forest was dark, but it had enough light to see the shapes of all of the trees and branches, just like the bushes and numerous plants scattered around the scenery. However, it was hard to make out any of the colors, everything has been covered by a huge cape that was made by the tree crowns.
'I don't see a reason to keep going anymore' she smiled lightly to herself while staring at her extended hand, twisting it to entertain herself while the limb was being dirtied by the forest litter 'Now that I think about it, it would be so much easier for mom to live by herself since she wouldn't have to support another person.'
It was true, ever since they were the only two left, her mom was overworking herself for her daughter's sake. Amy tried her best to support her parent as well in any way possible. She would take care of house chores and even sometimes help out in a flower shop to at least try to get some money to pay for groceries by herself.
Her mom told her constantly to just focus on school and let her do all the adult stuff, but Amy was persistent and never stopped. Her mother wasn't even home for more than a few hours, mostly she only stayed home for the night and went back to work after having breakfast with her daughter, but even that sometimes didn't work out. Because of that, she was unable to keep her daughter in check, so Amy simply used it to her advantage and did everything in her might to help their situation. Still, it was never enough to make her guardian's work easier by much.
'I don't have any friends that would care either, it would be better for everyone that way. I wonder what would they all think, even though it doesn't matter since they'll all move on even if they feel bad at first. It could also turn out that they didn't care at all, which would be even more ironic.'
Amy stayed silent for a while before continuing her train of thought. 'Would they even find my body? I'm really deep in this forest from what I can see, and it's not like they would have any clues on where I am. Besides, I left my phone at home so they wouldn't be able to find me by tracking my location.'
She decided to look around again, but then all of a sudden heard a snap. The sound was loud, everything else was silent, so the abrupt noise was brought out even more.
'Is someone there?'
The terrified girl quickly got up on her feet and looked behind in dread, but found nothing unusual. The uneasy feeling remained, so she decided to investigate more.
'Maybe something just fell from the trees?' she tried to comfort herself as her body began to tremble out of fear.
She kept looking in the same direction, gulping down the thick saliva, then hesitantly looked up and observed the trees if anything was out of order. Seeing as everything was fine, she calmed down and only her hands were left lightly shaking. She let out a sigh that she was holding in and relaxed, but then out of nowhere, she heard a quiet, raspy voice.
"Who are you?"
