It was hard not to look at him. His voice had held excitement and joy, taking Kara back to the past.

She looked back to when one of his friends had given him a gift for his birthday. The cafeteria was crowded but it seemed like an invisible spotlight was on the foreign student. He opened the box and Kara swore his expression when finding out what his gift was was the cutest thing she had ever seen. She was glad to have been able to witness it in real life. From across the lunch room, but in real life nonetheless.

A wide smile spread across his face, and he looked up to his friend group with the universe in his eyes.

He was tiny compared to them. Kara found it cute. She had even accidentally mistaken him to be a freshman the first time they had met despite being fresh out of sophomore year. Contrary to the fact that he always had the same friend group from when he started high school.

Kara could vividly remember him stomping his feet from excitement when they were handing him his gifts one by one. She could even remember one of his friends calling him out on the habit and him stopping, only for Renjun to pick it back up when he was receiving his next gift.

She had missed those times. Unfortunately, you can't particularly turn back time.

Kara was pulled back into reality when she felt strong vibrations on the floor. She was scared it was a problem with the ride, but when she looked to her right, she had figured out it was just Renjun.

The vibrations had stopped once she turned to look, but the girl could tell that the boy was trying hard to control his habit. His feet were so close to start stomping from happiness again, Kara was about to reassure him it was fine if he did it.

But the atmosphere changed once again as Renjun had unfortunately looked to his left, him and Kara making direct eye contact as the smiles on their faces immediately drop.

"What are you looking at?" he asks her, clearing his throat as he turns to look back to his right.

"Don't be too flattered. I was watching the cotton candy store. The kids are cute," Kara answered, immediately regretting it as her eyes float to the cotton candy store on her side of the ferris wheel.

A scoff was heard from Renjun, Kara closing her eyes from embarrassment as she figured he knew she was lying.

"Just say you still like me and get it over with," he said jokingly, the two still not looking at each other as Kara softly chuckles.

"I do still like you"
