As much as you adored spending quality time with your parents, it was nice to finally return to your humble little apartment. It was shaping up to be a peaceful weekend. Mostly you were focused on all the chores that you had put aside, but it was nice to get things organised before heading into another week of work.
The rhythmic buzzing of your phone caught your attention, rushing away from where you were folding laundry to answer it. "Hello~" You had sung delightfully, causing a deep rumble of a chuckle to pull from the other line. "I don't think there is another person on earth who's as chipper as you at this time in the morning on a Sunday, doll." A surprised gasp caught your throat then, cursing at yourself for not checking the caller ID before answering. "Hope I'm not disturbing..."
"Oh, no... no, not at all, Bucky." You responded quickly, then took a deep breath and tried to sound a little more casual. "So, uh... what's up?" It was like you could hear the smile that spread across his lips. "I was just calling to see if you'd wanna go for a walk with me..." He began and you felt your heart beginning to speed in your chest. "I could use getting out of the house and been missing you..."
It took everything to hold back a little mewl of sweetness. Quickly you informed him. "I'd really love that, Bucky." You sang, rushing into your bedroom and beginning to search through your wardrobe for something suitable to wear on a date with Bucky. "Meet me at Prospect Park in an hour?" He asked; it was something that you hastily agreed to before you both said your farewells.
After finally finding the perfect outfit, you spent some time getting yourself ready for this date. It felt like it had been a while since you'd seen Bucky, so the thought of spending the morning with him was a good one. It was a short walk over to Prospect Park; you were only loitering outside the entrance for a few moments before spotting Bucky's glossy black Range Rover.
Gnawing softly on your lower lip, you timidly approach as Bucky climbs out. "Morning, Doll." His voice was level as he wandered towards and placed a sweet kiss on the corner of your mouth. "You look beautiful." His comment made your insides squeal from his affection.
Not even a second passed before Bucky slips his tattooed hand into your own, tugging you close to his side as he began a slow trudge around the park. It felt like you were the only two people enjoying the park this early in the morning. "What've you been up to this weekend?" He asked after a moment of peaceful silence. "Oh, uh... I went out of town to visit my family. My mom wanted some help organising some of my old clothes to give to our local Church."
A tender hum came from Bucky. "That's sweet of you." He mentioned. "You like spending time with your family?" A soft nod came from you. "Do you miss them a lot living in the City?" It seemed that Bucky was full of questions about your family. It made you feel all warm that he was trying to find out a little more about you. "I miss them a whole lot. It's why I try and get out to them so often." You explained with a gentle nod of your head.
A tendril of curiosity began to swell in your gut and before you could even register, you were asking. "Are you close with your family?" Those glorious blue eyes flashed down to your face before he smirked and responded. "I am..." He responded and he could tell that you wanted to pry more. "I'm close with my Ma and I have a younger sister." He elaborated, which made your eyes light up with a hunger for more details. "My dad's no longer in the picture. He just decided to up and leave just after my sister Rebecca was born, left my Ma to have to pick up all the pieces."
"Jeez, I'm sorry..." You hummed, shaking your head. "We were better off without him. The guy was a drunk." Bucky huffed and you squeezed his hand in a supportive manner, nudging yourself a little closer into his side. "Ma was happier without him; she was free of all the arguing and all the worry. Rebecca didn't have to know him, barely even any pictures of her with him. Trust me, it's better that way." You did trust Bucky's judgement, especially when it came to the complex relationships of his own family.
